I hate to write this, because I'm being very self-indulgent and really am happy for her but I am soooooo JEALOUS right now! My best friend started dating this guy in October, she brought him to the wedding and he's an amazing guy for her, so I'm really truly happy, but they are going on a freaking all-inclusive trip for 1.5 weeks to the Riviera Maya in Mexico over Spring break. I. WANT. MY. HONEYMOON! lol. We haven't even started planning it yet. :pouting over:
Re: ::pouts::
I know exactly how you feel!
DH and I had been only thinking about a honeymoon, but weren't actually doing anything about it, and I was really stressed out about it. We were even having little fights over it because his brother is planning a backpacking trip for them, and they've met to talk about it and stuff. we finally just booked last wednesday, but i still WANT TO GO NOW!
I know that I totally knew we couldnt take a honeymoon right away ( I teach, and January didnt leave any vaca time), and february break is out because he has his own maple syrup business and its syrup season, and april vacation is his planting season for the christmas tree farm...so thats summer vacation, and i'm taking a grad class until august. so there we have it. SO even though I knew we couldnt do anything, its a lot harder than I thought.
I'm here to help complain with you!
when can you go?
I always get jealous of other people's vacations. Since we live in the Bahamas right now there's always people walking around who are on cruises. I never had any interest in a cruise but now I really want to take an Alaskan one.
Thread jack: So, Melko, your husband makes maple syrup? Now that's something to be jealous about!
Also, can't you just take a long weekend at some point for a HM? It sounds like you really need to get away!

Awww man that sucks. I feel your pain. Our HM was our first real vacation alone together in 7 years. This girl I work with started dating a guy and 2 months later they were going to Aruba for a week.
I like Panda's idea. Try to find a long weekend and just go somewhere together, just to get away. Hang in there!
my blog
I'm trying to find some time for us to go somewhere but my grad program is uber intense because it's mainly design-based, which means I spend 20 hours a day sometimes in studio, including weekends. Also, H works a commission-only job, so if he doesn't go to work, we get no money. There is no paid vacation for him. I knew that we couldn't have a HM for awhile with our situation, but I never knew how much I was going to miss it! I'm going to Myrtle Beach, SC and Savannah, GA over my spring break with my sister so thankfully I'll get to relax, but it's not with hubby. bummer.
We want to go to LaDera in St. Lucia when we actually go, so all I can do is sit and look at internet pics until we save up enough money. This one salary household isn't working out as well as we'd hoped lol.
And yeah, Melk - mayple syrup??! YUM!
omg you guys, REAL maple syrup is amazing! Last season DH sold out completely, which allowed him to invest more money into the business, so he can make more this year! That means I can try cooking with it! He is actually out right now tapping trees because this weeks weather is supposed to be great for the sap. The next few weeks will consist of me going to visit him while he boils outside for tons of hours straight!
I'm so proud of him though for working so hard for it!

Does he sell it on the Internet by any chance?
Also, you must share your maple syrup recipes. It's a new Nestie law I just made.

I second the nestie law. Motion carried!
I have a yummy maple syrup recipe that may just be submitted in this sunday's edition of Recipe Exchange
We dont have anything set up online yet (hopefully we will by the time its ready to sell this year), but its definately ship-able. Someone bought some from him to send it to Germany!
Once I have some syrup to start cooking yet, I'll definately share! I'll probably be blogging A LOT about the syrup season soon, and I have an idea for a chicken dish that I really want to try out!
