I'm throwing a bachelorette party for my sister in March and we will be going to dinner and then some bars. Since they are far appart we'll be renting a school bus to go around for the night. In planning it I just figured the bridal party would pay the cost of the bus (it comes out to about $45 per girl) but some of the other bridesmaids wanted to ask everyone coming to chip in for the bus. We are also getting t-shirts made. So I don't want to offend anyone I invite by asking for money, but I don't want the bridal praty to be responsible for paying for the entire bus plus tees for everyone. I did mark up the cost of the tees by a few dollars to help with costs. Here is how I was going to word the invites as I have it now:
Aaarr!! Come if ye dare to Pirate Taylor's "Last Night to get Booty" Bachelorette Celebration. We need shipmates to swab at deck, walk the plank and hunt for pirate treasure. Aaarrr!
The ship sets sail on March 20, 2010 at 7:30 pm from Taylor's house. It is scheduled to dock at Bonfattos for dinner then we'll be sailing the high seas of Bellefonte and Pleasant Gap.
Please RSVP to Captain Brooke by March 5, 2010 if you will be setting sail with us so that we can have an accurate count for the party bus as well as dinner.
We will be getting t-shirts made for this event, if you would like one please be sure to note that in your RSVP, the cost of the tee will be $15 per person (these will be ordered on March 5th so don't be late RSVPing if you want one). Donations to cover the cost of the bus would be appreciated.
What would your reaction be to receiving this? Would you rather the invitation just stated that we are asking for X amount of money for everyone attending to cover costs of the tees and bus?
thanks!
Re: Bachelorette Party Invitation Wording
love the invite!
i clearly understand that it's $15 if i want a shirt and you would appreciate me chipping in money for the bus (and i would
, but not knowing the cost of the bus, i'd throw in $10 or $20 or just ask you if i was comfortable enough with you) good luck!
i think i like that wording a little better than just a blanket statement of x dollars. some people may chip in and some might not, but it will still lessen the cost for you a little.
i love the rest of the invite though!
