I had the most eventful weekend it was eye opener on my experience as a bike rider. Saturday was such a beautiful day for a bike ride, and we (Eric & I) met up with my spin class friends. My girlfriend who is the instructor went as well, this was my first time going on the outside dirt trails, we usually bike on cemented trails. We were halfway thru our ride and we went down a steep hill. I went after girlfriend's husband, I should have braked more on my back wheel. I went really crazy fast, and then at the very end, I hit a hole, and then it made me shift to a bigger hole, and then I flew off my bike 10 or 15 feet. I rolled and turned over, ate it on my face. I vaguely remember what happened after that..my girlfriend and Eric came racing down...screaming at me. I raised my head, and spit up blood. I looked up seeing blood on my hand and my knee hurt like hell. I started screaming and then they tried to get me to move. Everything on my body hurt like hell. They tried to wash the blood off me, everyone started helping me up. Moving around finally, I realized I didn't break any bones. But the blood was everywhere, the other half of our group raced back to the cars. They picked us up, and Eric took me to the hospital. We were there for 5 hours...took x-rays to double check on me, no broken bones, but my knee was terribly swollen, so my face. You don't want to know what I look like...it's like I got in a fight with Mike tyson. My upper lip is HUGE. I have lots of bruises and scratches everywhere, my arms, my right hand, my left arm got a huge gash ( no stitches ) were needed. My chest...my poor boobies got scratched the eff up from me rolling down the incline...road rash is the worst feeling ever. They gave me a tetanus shot, and that hurt like hell the next day. They gave me a knee brace, too. I'm supposed to get lots of rest, and take it easy. It was nice change that Eric had to cook and clean instead of me! LOL
The worst feeling was walking around, or hobbling around. I dont feel like myself, but very lucky to have not broken a bone. I'm happy that we wore helmets...that we had just bought the previous day. I'm home until Tuesday. Today is a new day and I learned a hard lesson. I'm alive and will survive through this. Sorry this got long, but it was a crazy weekend.
Re: I fell off my bike...
i'm so sorry to hear that! how awful.
you are very lucky though. my CW fell off a bike on a trail and broke her back! it was terrible
good luck recovering. i hope you are back on your bike soon!
Yeah...I was afraid to lose any of my teeth. I cut or bit on my lip as I fell so that explains the blood I spit up.
Oh my! How terrible! I'm glad there were no broken bones and nothing too serious though. And good thing you were out with other people. I hope you get lots of rest and heal quickly!
And also, the first thing that came to mind when I started reading was, omg did she have a helmet on?? SO SO SO glad you were wearing that helmet! I'm not a fan of "off road biking", I like my paved paths.
Eeks! I'm glad you are okay!
Take it easy!
