back story: I wanted an Ikea crib to save money - DH didn't like it.
We went to a local boutique baby store on Friday night and found and ordered a beautiful simple italian made crib for a total of $460.
Today I googled the crib to find a pic to send to my mom and found the EXACT.SAME.CRIB. for $270 total including tax and free shipping promo.
Yeah...that's a $190 difference for an umemployed gal. I'll take the deal. I try to support local businesses, but when they are so blatently marking up the price like that it pisses me off. I called the boutique to cancel the order and the owner lectured me that it is not right for me to "use" their store to see the merchandice in person and then order online somewhere else.
I'm sorry...maybe I'll cancel my car seat and stroller order too. What a douche. I understand you are mad you lost a sale for such a blatent over-pricing - but don't lecture me about being a shopper. I'm a smart informed shopper - you're a boutique owner marking stuff way way up.
Re: Pissed off a local business...
Wow. Takes balls to say that when the price difference is $190.
What crib is it? I have been looking online and I think my eyeballs are going to fall out!

That's BS! I would cancel the rest of my orders, too.
This. I'd call her back and say that due to the rude way you were treated, you will be giving all of your business elsewhere. This is insanely rude!
I found my wedding dress at a shop for $600.
Found it online for $350. Um, yeah I got the online deal! They weren't doing alterations there, anyway...
