McCain fundraiser still on?

McCain still coming to CA next week -- for fundraiser

Republican Sen. John McCain has announced he'll suspend his presidential campaign and its advertising to head to Washington to focus on the financial meltdown.

But life goes on. We've just checked, and still on the calender -- not canceled -- is a glitzy Avenue of the Stars fundraiser next week in Century City starring the Arizona senator and his wife, Cindy.

The Oct. 1 fundraiser is slated for 8:30 p.m. at the elegant Century Plaza Hyatt Regency, a favorite spot for political fundraisers that attract the deep pocketed Beverly Hills/Los Angeles/Bel-Air crowd.

(Let's remember, the Democrats love this neighborhood too: Sen. Barack Obama was just in same area for his own set of California ATM fundraisers for easy campaign cash.)

And they bulk up the bottom line: Tickets to the McCain bash are $1,000 per person, $2,500 if you want the special McCain-Palin lapel pin. Proceeds will go to the Republican National Committee, the McCain-Palin Victory Fund and the California Republican Party.

BTW, we're told the two big fundraisers next week in Los Angeles and the Bay Area starring GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin are still on.
