I've pretty much been a lurker on this board for a couple years. And so, with people trying to get together I got a little jealous that I don't feel like I know anyone well enough to do that. Sooo... hi. I'm Tamie. I've lived in NM almost all my life. I am in ABQ ATM. I've been married a couple years and we just bought a house. We don't have kids, and they're not in our foreseeable future. I love dogs, singing, and livejournal. Sooo... "Hi."
As for a conversation starter (hopefully), are you a big joiner? Can anyone suggest a community organization I could join? Job hunting is taking longer than expected and I'd like some more ways to fill the hours.
Re: Hiya: Community Groups?
Welcome out of the dark corners. You know, none of us knew each other off boards until we went out. So don't worry you don't know us. We didn't know us either.
I'm an antisocial joiner. I join seectively, if that makes sense. I have't really joined much in ABQ because both my jobs have been major time sinks and I end up missing lots of activities/meetings.
If you like gogs, have you thought about helping out at the animal shelters. They always need people.
Hi and welcome! Flame is right, none of us knew each other before we went out- in fact I have only met Flame and Duff IRL. But everyone seems super nice and fun, so I am all for having more GTG's.
I just moved here from Phoenix in October and joined meetup.com- there are a lot of groups around here. I also am a writer and joined a writing group in November.
Hope that helps- lets keep this conversation going- I'd love to hear other girls thoughts.
Hi and welcome! I haven't been to any GTG's either, but I'm going to try to make the next one.
I used to be a "joiner," but since moving back to NM, I've been so busy I haven't had a chance. In Phoenix, I did Junior League and Donor Network (Organ and Tissue donation education.) Haven't gotten back into either of those since I've been here, but they were great groups.
