My niece called me tonight and asked me to help her with her science homework. After asking me the first question I advised her to go to the index in her textbook. That's when she says "My school's too poor for textbooks". Apparently the teacher lectures and writes on the board and the kids take notes. The kids at the other elementary school have books. No wonder she is doing so poorly, she has everything stacked against her.

Re: I AM SO FURIOUS
poor kid! I've never heard of a school not having textbooks.
What's going on with you getting custody? Hadn't heard lately.
Unfortunately, that is not uncommon. It is so sad too!
I would send her to school with a tape recorder (do the recorders still use tape, idk?). That way she can relisten to the lecture, and doesn't have to worry about getting every single note.
