Seeing as how it's Fat Tuesday and all I asked a few of my classes if they had their paczkis for breakfast and no one knew what they were. I'm from MI and kids always brought boxes of paczkis into school on Mardi Gras or at least had them at some point during the day...I'm not Polish or anything, it was just something you always had on this day (as grossly unhealthy as they are). Do they not have paczkis in NC?
I just assumed it was as well known as wearing beads for Mardi Gras... now I feel like a lost northener again, this is right up there with the great pop/soda debate
Re: Paczkis?
I think so, one of my good friends is from MI and a few years ago she was talking about missing the Paczkis and I was like WTF?
I know fasnacht day, but I also grew up in central pa. I have never heard of paczkis.
