can I wash an egg crate?

I have a twin sized one off of the trundle bed that needs to be washed (spilled sippy cup)... any ideas?  thoughts on what kind of cycle/water/drying... all that jazz?

TIA!

Re: can I wash an egg crate?

  • I seem to remember that you're not supposed to wash them in the washing machine because they will fall apart and / or the soap will not wash out b/c of the spongy material. I would try spot cleaning it with water and maybe diluted dish soap. That is what Real Simple always says to use. HTH!

  • I would try to wash/rinse just that area over a bowl/bucket or something, so you're not dealing with the entire thing. A towel underneath would work. Pour a little soapy water on it, mash around a bit. Then place another towel on top and stand on it to absorb. Repeat with clean water and towels as needed to remove the spot.
