Any good Catholics sacrificing this year?
I'm giving up soft drinks, fast food, and candy. Yikes!! In the spirit of Fat Tuesday, I'm going to over indulge in every one of them today.

Re: Lent sacrifice?
haha, good call
I'm not giving up anything additional, since I'm already off of sugar and caffeine.
Hear, hear! I'm not Catholic, but cheers to this! I can hop on that bandwagon.
In all seriousness, I usually try to give up something that will benefit me (sweets, junk food, sodas, etc.) in addition to doing something that will make me a better person (go to church everyday, say a daily rosary, volunteer, etc). But since I could easily be pregnant for another 4 weeks, I decided not to give anything up this year. Plus the church excuses pregnant women from the regular Lenten dietary rules so I'm piggybacking.
I am going to still try to do something though. I would like to do a daily rosary but I'm afraid with a newborn that will go right out the window so I am thinking of giving up cursing. I have the worst mouth sometimes and I really don't want my kid to pick up on that. MH's coworker does this every year and puts a dollar in a jar every time he slips up. He then donates the jar to his church at Easter. It's a win-win situation.
DISCLAIMER: This Lenten sacrifice does not apply while I am in L&D.
When I was a kid this is what we would do, except it wasn't with dollars. Everyone had a mitre box and the money collected went to the bishop's fund.
I am giving up soft drinks and sweets (aka chocolate.) I hope i can do this!! My hips need me to stick to it!
Call my better half if you need help. He owes you.

I totally wanted to partake in this but I'm afraid I won't uphold my end of the bargain. I am craft challenged you know.
Boo...I'll still probably (attempt) a tag blanket for Baby Shoe.
I need projects and I think I've become a sewing monster.

You have no idea how much this excites me.
I'm already sacrificing...hello I am sleeping in my IL's guest room. Not too bad, but still. When everything settles down, I'll be going to the gym regularly again and hopefully eating healthier foods. Face it, I'm not really the decision maker when it comes to food right now. However I'm trying to get my MIL to go to church with me if she can make it through a mass.
