Who's been to Maui??

Recommend a place to stay!!

I really would like to stay in a timeshare or condo, but I am open to any recommendations! I am just starting my research & don't know where to begin! We want a place on the beach...that's really our only "must".

Re: Who's been to Maui??

  • If you stay anywhere on Ka'anapali, you'll be fine.  We stayed in a very small hotel (not even a restaurant in the hotel), it had a kitchen, a pool and everything though.  It was very minimalist but VERY nice and we didn't mind it not being "fancy" because we still had a great view of the ocean and we were barely in our room other than to sleep anyway.

Let me look up where we stayed as well as where my in - laws have their timeshare.  I'll let you know.

  • Okay, we stayed at the Outrigger Royal Kahana Resort

Again, very minimal, but nice.  We had no complaints and would stay there again.

My in - laws have a time share at the Ka'anapali Beach Club.  GORGEOUS.  We spend all of our time there when we go.  The pool is amazing.

  • Lahaina is amazing!
  • We've stayed in Wailea the 2 times we've been and loved it. I also think the Kaanapali area is nice, as is Kapalua. (I might be off on spelling!!). The second time we went we rented a condo through VRBO.com at Wailea that was a short walk to the beach. the great thing about Wailea is that there is a very long stretch of beach - it's crowded near some of the larger hotels, but not at all if you walk further north, which is where our condo was. So you can have your own little area if you desire :-)

Last time we also did 3 nights in Hana so we could fully explore that area. I liked that we did that b/c the road to Hana makes me car sick, so by staying there I was able to enjoy the Pipiwei trail and the 7 sacred pools past Hana without feeling like I needed to vomit :-)

  • me!  and we are actually going BACK in one week!  i could not be more excited.

we stayed at the grand wailea - thats where we got married.  this time we are trying to save some cash so we are probably going to get a condo... i will be back on march 1st and if we do stay in a condo i will let you know how it was!!!

Yes!! Please do! I want details! Big Smile

  • VRBO is awesome and we usually stay on the south side in Kihei/Wailea/Makena. There are plenty of great deals to be had right now.  There's stuff on Craigslist too but it's not regulated like VRBO so you are taking your chances. However, when we went back to Maui last year we got a beautiful private suite in Kihei (across from the beach) for $69/night through CL.
  • We LOVED maui.... stayed at the Kaanapali Beach Club.... loved it!
