My commute to work today was much better. I kept an eye on those tractor trailers on 295 though.
I'm so happy that I'm off again this Friday. I don't think I could make it through the whole week without using leave time. I got my take home midterm last night for my class and it's insane! So much harder than the homework or anything we've done in class. On top of that, he gave us homework too that's due the same day as the exam. ![]()
I hear we're getting another storm next week and it could be up to 2 feet of snow if it's cold enough. You should see the amount of snow they have piled up on base...they brought alot of it in from the city and there's this 15+ foot wall of snow that's at least a football field long. It's crazy! I don't know where they're going to put 2 more feet of snow.
Hope everyone has a great day
I'll be in training all morning and then we're taking a 'field trip' to the Seaport Museum to scout it out for a conference in May.
Re: Good morning
Izzy: Good luck on your exam
did they really say possibly 2 feet!! That actually makes me want to cry....I'm really so over the snow and the cold. I'm so ready for this week to be over, it's only mid week and we had off Monday but I'm just so tired.
DH is driving me nuts but I don't know if I'm just hormonal
I really don't understand why guys find it so hard to pick up after themselves, if your walking past that hamper is it really that hard to put your clothes in it..uggh! I swear i'm gonna leave them out and let the dog get them, that will teach him
So lets talks warm weather...anyone have any vacations planned for spring or summer?
I have a long conference call today that is going to suck a lot. Mainly because I'm the only one calling in and everyone else is on location.
On Saturday I'm taking what I think is either my dog or a mop to the groomers. I'm curious on what his actual size is underneath all of his fluff.
I love snow so bring it on!
I'm with natalie on this one....bring on the snow! I think that this is possibly my favorite winter ever! Massive amounts of snow equals awesomeness! Love it!
No vacations here. I really wanted to go to Rockhouse Hotel but have made an executive decision to save money instead. My new addiction is saving and not spending so that is a huge world of difference for me.
Good luck on the exam Izzy!
I would love to be somewhere warm right now with a drink (or two) in hand. Those resorts in St. Lucia on The Bachelor looked amazing and made me so absolutely jealous!
Tip on getting husbands to help around the house:
I find that if you direct your husband with a small task and direct him in a "wifely" manner that it usually produces good results.
Do:
In a sweet wifely voice: Honey, would you mind helping me make sure the laundry is picked up off the floor everyday? It would be such a big help to me if you could make sure your laundry gets into the hamper every day.
Don't:
Nagging mom tone (we all know what they are): How many times do I need to ask you to pick up your clothes? Why can't you just put your laundry in the hamper everyday! Is it so hard???
I'm fine with more snow, but I also don't have to makeup days of work, so I understand others' frustrations. I figure - if it's cold, then I want it to snow!
No warm vacations planned for us this year. We're going to Ireland on March 10th. I'm excited to go, but it won't be a tropical vacation. Oh well... I'll probably obssess over Travelzoo and tease myself with Carribbean vacations throughout the summer.
Izzy - I agree! St. Lucia is by far the most beautiful place I've ever been. DH and I honeymooned in the south of the Island, which is where they'll be for the final episode!
Oh yes, consistency is key. Husbands are much like children in the manner in which both need to be molded and trained in some sort of fashion. When we teach or mold children to do tasks like brush teeth before bed or put toys away before dinner, we have to be consistent. Husbands- the same thing. Gently remind him to stay on task everyday or weekly. Also, I have found that I can only introduce one new task at a time so as to not overwhelm my husband.
My first task was loading and unloading the dishawasher. Second task was cleaning up the kitchen after he cooked. He has those two under control although occassionally I have to reinforce them. I am moving on to the laundry issue since I battle with his clothes all over the floor. I have already mentioned the clothing on floor issue. Mentioning it produced no results.
Starting this weekend I plan to ask him to put his clothes in the hamper because it will help me when doing the wash. It will be much easier if I don't have to look for his laundry...wink, wink.
All the work that went into my husband flew out the window with this Achilles problem. He has regressed back to a teenager whose mother takes care of him, which is funny since his mother did not cater to him.
He's finally walking on his boot, so the clothes at least seem to be emerging from behind the guest bathroom door and appearing in the hamper, but the kitchen is still a disaster cause I have zero help. He can't really stand long enough to cook and clean and still needs at least one crutch to move efficiently.
Sorry that was a long vent. I'm so glad he started PT yesterday! He's actually amazing for the situation we're in and feels awful about not being able to help, but it gets under my skin still every now and then.
I'm hoping once he's more mobile that maybe we can get down to FL for at least a long weekend before the baby comes.
I too like the snow so bring it on! I love being stuck in the house. Plus we have really gotten to know our neighbors. No islands this summer. We have a wedding at a Lake in upstate NY and then maybe a night in Niagra (it's only a couple of hours away).
I agree on teaching or gently nudging the hubby. I've found complimenting him randomly after the fact or when I realize something is done also works very well. He gets this look of accomplishment. Very cute!
I feel no sympathy for people making up work days only because I have to work everyday during the summer. =/
