Because this board is dead, and I'm not ready to be done with lunch yet
My senior vice president doesn't understand all the recycle bins we have at work. I think. Or maybe he doesn't care.
A year or so ago they banned having small trash cans at your desk, and put in place a bunch of large recycle bins: paper, cans, compostable, non-compostable, etc.
Well, the SVP just got up and shoved what food he didn't finish from his lunch down the paper bin. He throws everything in the paper bin. Everything.
I think maybe he just doesn't understand the concept. Or maybe he doesn't care.
Either way, everyone is way too intimidated of him to say anything.
And before someone suggests it, there are already signs on each bin, with photos, explaining what goes where.
Now someone else post something.
Re: Because this board is dead, and I'm not ready to be done with lunch yet
I'm pretty sure the cleaning service here dumps the trash and recycling together. I've seen them do it with my trash. The university has been talking up it's green-ness in the media. I just roll my eyes and snicker.
My GM just sent an email to me and then walked 2 feet from her office to mine to ask me to print it and hand it to her. She said she forgot to print it out before she sent it to me and wants a hard copy.
Kyfirewife, maybe you can put "click on sent mail" on your recucle bin and I can put "no food" on my GMs computer screen? Ahahaha!
What school do you work for?
I think part of the problem is that there are way too many choices for where to put your garbage. Who wants to pick off their plate what is compostable, non-compostable, recyclable paper, paper to be shredded, platic and cans. There are some days when I just don't feel like separating and some stuff get thrown that shouldn't.
If its your SVP its probably not a good idea not to say anything to them about it. I would be afraid of them in my next meeting! But thats me.
The Fluffy Cat says... "Boxes are the best toys ever invented!"
I'm sure this is going to be an unpopular thing to say, but that kind of thinking pisses me off to no end.
It's freaking recycling - no one's asking you to switch religions or donate to an opposing political campaign. I don't see what's subjective about reducing the amount of crap that ends up in a landfill.
