Olympics

Have you been watching?  What sports are you favorites so far?  I really enjoyed watching the snowboard cross, and the halfpipe last night was great.  Speed skating has also caught my interest.  I used to love figure skating when I was younger, but this year every time it comes on I seem to get bored and fall asleep.

Re: Olympics

  • I have always enjoyed the snowboarding and figure skating. This year I really got into speed skating too. The relay last night was really cool, it looks extremely tough. The one sport I never really 'got' before was curling, and last night I watched it while we played trivia at a local restaurant and I had a great time. I guess I never appreciated it before!

  • I love the winter olympics! Skiing (downhill & freestyle are my favorites) but I love the majority of the other stuff- figure & speed skating, snowboarding, ski jumping... I get really excited about it all!
  • Like BB I used to love watching figure skating, but now I'm not very into it. I watched a good portion of the pairs but the men's, no thank you. I've been loving short track speed skating; it's so intense! I love how there's a group on the ice at once fighting for the top spot unlike most of the sports where it's one person going at a time. I like the snowboarding and skiing too. I've been trying to watch as much as I can while I have the chance.

  • We've been watching it all this week.  All the snowboarding events are our favorite, and speed and figure skating are still fun to watch.  I just don't get luge or skeleton, and late last night they showed the double luge--so weird.
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • I have always been into the more artistic sports such as gymnastics and figure skating during the Olympics...I watch all the figure skating...love it all...including the men's that was on most recently and I think again tonight...so dramatic.  I love the "villainous" Plushenko and Johnny Weir and Lysacek did well also.  They are just keeping me up way too late these days...I am hurting at work every day this week.

Ditto! Thank God I bought the hot chocolate with infused caffeine last week (I don't like coffee). I'm still kinda dragging though.

  • I've always loved watching the Olympics.  The figure skating and downhill skiing are old favorites.  I've enjoyed seeing the snowboarding and speed skating this year too.  The curling is intriguing, still figuring it out though.

My biggest complaint is that the newscasters spend sooo much time talking and showing clips of old events during the first few hours of the prime time coverage.  Then the last hour or so (when I would much rather be asleep) it's back to back coverage of the events to get everything in.  Granted I know that some of those events are happening live so they can't help that but I'd like to see more of the daytime coverage that is pretaped instead of so many "stories".  For instance, last night we only saw 2 of the US snowboarders qualifying rounds and then the finals. Often with the skiing we see the US, Canadians, and whoever they believe are the favorites.  I would just like to see the competition.

  • We've been watching some, though not very intently.  I've never been really into the Winter Olympics, I just don't enjoy it nearly as much as the Summer Olympics.

  • Curling's my absolute favorite. I also like snowboarding, and this year we got into moguls. DH likes the biathalon and speed skating.
  • I like all of the sports but tend to find that I am more interested in any sport that Americans are competing in.  Like for speedskating, I like watching more when Shani Davis or Apollo Ohno (sp?) are in the race.

  • The snowboarding stuff is amazing! I love watching it. I also like the speed skating. I too was a huge fan of figure skating but can't seem to get into it. Although I've been hearing about how fabulouse Jonny Weir is. I don't even know if I'm spelling it right!
