Weight Watchers

Morning Everyone!

I did Weight Watchers several times and each time, it's been mildly successful. I've lost approx 10 lbs each time I've done it. I'm not sure why I stop doing it because I find it pretty easy to follow and I like the meetings.

I've been struggling with my weight for YEARS now. I am working out a lot now and feel like i'm in a better position to be successful with weight loss. I need to lose 40-50 lbs and that number is so impossible for me to comprehend. We're also TTC and I don't want all this extra weight on me going into a pregnancy. So anyway, long story short, I'm thinking of joining WW again now that I'm in a mentally better place. Have any of you done it or are currently doing it and had decent success?

Re: Weight Watchers

  • I love being on WW! I go to the meetings here at my job and the woman who conducts the meeting is a laugh riot (example joke: She went to Ireland and said she was the only chocolate chip in that cookie, haha).

I did WW back in October '06 when I first met my, now, DH and I really wanted to get into shape. It wasn't that I ate unhealthy, I was just eating large portions. I was also expecting fast results. When I started the program, I took small steps to achieve instead of looking at the final number. That helped it be more realistic. And I started running so that I could tone up and get in better shape. Since then I've ran in over a dozen 5k's and two half marathons.

After I got married (in 10/08) I started to get comfortable with MH. I wasn't getting into bad habits again but I wasn't exactly watching every bite that I ate (and I'm a grazer - is that a word? - when I eat). When they started offering the program at work in January, I jumped at the chance to get my eating back in order. And I'm hoping that I can influence MH's eating habits too (he lives for Tony's Pizza, spaghettio's and Chef Boyardee *sigh*).

We can motivate each other if you want!! GL! Smile

  • Thanks Laina! I really need the support. They're offering it here at work for a new session so I'm definitely signing up for it! I'm gonna do the online tools as well because they have great recipes!

PS: Your at work leader doesn't happen to be Heather, does it?

  • I know, I loooove the recipes!! I just found a WW scone recipe and they were delicious. I'm addicted to pastries, haha.

    No, our leader is Tanya.

  • I do love their recipes and they're (for the most part) pretty easy to make. I think I'm going to join etools today and see where that gets me then the work one starts in about a month so if I make decent progress, I'll keep with just the etools. If not, I'll join the at work session.

Good luck with your fitness goals!

I'm doing WW right now and go to meetings in Woburn... I had a Heather as a leader but she just resigned. I like some concepts of WW and have had success-- there are some things I have problems with (ie their products are really not that healthy for you- so much HFCS & artificial sweeteners).

  • I have done it on and off for years. ?Right now I am, like you, working out more and need to get back to watching what I eat. ?Maybe we can start a Nestie WW group. ?:-) ?GL to you.
  • I love WW!  I just stopped going to the meetings in Saugus (due to money and pregnancy), but they were great.  I went to Tara's meeting and she was really good.  I lost about 20 pounds.  It is sometimes so simple that you take it for granted and then start sliding backwards, so I needed to work hard to stay focused!  Good luck to you!  And good luck ttc!
  • I've just started seriously dieting/counting calories pretty much for the first time in my life (age and all these years at a desk job have finally caught up with me)...I'd ideally like to drop 20 pounds...I've registered on the MyPlate program on Livestrong.com...it's really cool...helps you to keep track of your calories as well as water, nutrients, etc.  They also have tons of helpful articles with ideas for meals for certain caloric values, tips, etc.  And it's free as far as I know...

I'll gladly take WW meal tips though too...

  • I actually JUST signed up online today!! And then I came to check out this board and saw this message..Weird!!

I have about 20-30 pounds to drop as well. I'm hoping that just doing the program online will help. My best friend lost 115 pounds on Weight Watchers but she did meetings as well.
