BG users...

I'm all questions and little responses lately I know - but we're busy busy since the weather is so great to get outside!

Anyone using BumGenius - have you had odour issues with them? We're finding that some of the diapers already have a pee smell to them when they come out of the dryer. Not sure if we're not using enough soap (we're following the directions) or what it is, but any tips are useful!

Re: BG users...

  • It may be too much soap. Try rinsing in cold with some baking soda, then washing in hot with vinegar in the rinse. Use the longest cycle with the most water.
  • I don't use BG's but I got a tip from someone regarding cloth in general.  I use a dry pail, but someone told me to rinse even the pee diapers before throwing them in the pail so the odour doesn't set.

Also what detergent are you using?  It might not be CD friendly.  Canadian Bio's suggestions are great to try too.

And then do a regular wash of them? Or are they good to go after that?

  • I was also going to suggest it was too much soap.

They'd be good to go. I try to wash without soap every 4th wash or so.
