Forget Obama/McCain's Freddie/Fannie connections...
Barney Frank, IMO, wins this contest hands down. Someone found out his former lover, Herb Moses, was a Fannie Mae exec. Say what you will about Jim Johnson and Rick Davis, but they weren't pillow talking with the candidates 
Normally, I would give a rat'sass about this, BUT Barney Frank is one of the main reasons congress never reformed the GSEs.

Quick background, Barney Frank, D, MA, is the chair of the House Financial Services Committee. (Also, the same Barney Frank that was reprimanded for having a prostitution ring run out of his home.)
I posted about him last week b/c back in 2003 a bill was presented to this same financial committee, a bill that the NYTimes called "the most significant regulatory overhaul in the house finance industry since the S&L crisis" and would have overhauled Freddie/Fannie. The bill was killed in committee. In blocking this bill Frank said, in his finest moment as the reigning morAn of the house,
''These two entities -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- are not facing
any kind of financial crisis,'' said Representative Barney Frank of
Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services
Committee. ''The more people exaggerate these problems, the more
pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of
affordable housing.''

Even as late as September 8 of this year Frank said, "he's not sure the federal takeover of Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac was warranted, blaming the decision on what he termed "nervous hysteria" in the markets. ... I think his obsession with low-income housing was a BIG part of the problem. It's like that apartment for sale I posted a couple weeks ago withmaximum income levels. While the price and income levels were do-able, I think the max requirements put buyers and mortgage lenders in an awkward and potentially dangerous positions.
