Dry shampoo girls

I have questions.  I'm contemplating going get some of this to throw in my L&D bag (that I haven't even started packing yet).

What brand do you use?  How does it work?  Is it like mousse and you just put it in your hands then run your fingers through your hair?

Re: Dry shampoo girls

  • Good question! I am interested too. Does it work for super oily hair?

I've heard it does which is why I'm interested.  If I don't wash my hair at least once every 24 hours I am screwed.  Only made worse by any amount of sweating.  I'd rather not look like I haven't showered in a week when my kid comes out.

  • Not so sure about dry shampoo, but my SIL has some kind of spray (looks like a hairspray bottle) that absorbs the oil at the roots so it looks cleaner for a little while.

I'll have to find out what brand it is.

That's exactly how my hair is, when the 16-18 hour mark starts to hit the oil starts coming, and by 24 hours hits it looks like I haven't washed my hair in days. It's ridiculous.

Oscar Blandi, $11 at Sephora, it's a small bottle I really like it and it works well for my hair.

The pp mentioned a hairspray type bottle, the brand is Pssst, you can find it at Walgreens for around $8, I'm not a fan of that brand. I think you have to use so much to get the right effect that it turns your hair white.

That would work as well.  Something easy to use and can be applied from a hospital bed is my goal!

  • the powder comes out at the nozzle and then you brush it through your hair. In a few minutes it absorbs all of the extra oil and gives your hair TONS of body. looks like you just had a blow out or used hot rollars.

  • I haven't tried the brand MT recommended, but I've used the kind at Sally's with good success. It's called Batiste, I think, in a turquoise/yellow spray can for about $7-$8.

  • The only thing I've ever used was Sebastion Dry Clean Only b/c that's what my mom stocked at her shop. It worked really well but I think it's discontinued. It basically worked like what MT was describing though.

  • Is this what Heidi was spraying into her hair on that stupid "I'm a celebrity..." show? She was ob-freaking-noxious with it.

  • Heidi of Speidi kept spraying crap in her hair when they did that ::coughcough reality coughcough:: show on like CBS. "I'm a celebrity, get me out of here." She annoyed me spraying it in her hair evvery 5 seconds. I'm guessing this is what it is.

You have to hold it a foot away from your scalp or else it will look whitish. With your dark hair, I've read on the Fashion and beauty board that you can make a cocoa powder/cornstarch mix and brush it in your hair...same effect.

Here's some ideas for dispensing it too...

  • I use the kind MT posted. Love it! They also make a hairspray version of that same one. I think the spray one is easier to use, but it's more expensive because it runs out quicker. Not a big deal unless you use it most days like I do.

Great idea for a L&D bag! Just practice before hand. The powder is white. Not sure if it will show if you have darker hair and don't brush it in totally.

  • My mom bought me some at Wal-Mart but I never used it so I can't tell you.  But I know they sell it.
