Wall question - Who has a trick up their sleeve?

I totally hate how Josh doesn't let my curtains hang in our bedroom so today I unwrapped them so they would look the way that I envisioned.  Well, while bumping this morning, the cats decided to try to climb them and the curtain rod hook is now hanging and no matter how many times I tighten it, it just doesn't go back.  Mya caught me on the stool with the screwdriver and yelled that she was calling Josh.

Does anyone have any tricks as to what I can put in the sheetrock in order for the screw to stay?  I really don't want to have to put more holes in the wall.

Re: Wall question - Who has a trick up their sleeve?

  • You can try an anchor bolt depending on how big the old hole is.  But you'll probably need to make a new hole.
  • You mean so that Josh won't find out?
  • Renee - That and he won't find out that I was standing on top of the stool.  Every morning he reminds me that I should not try anything stupid while he is not home.  For example, no shoveling snow, no moving the furniture around the living room, etc.  Before he was pregnant, he never knew what he was coming home to.

  • HAHAHAHA John hide all the screw drivers and hammers a long time ago for that exact same reason.

the best thing is a butterfly or molly bracket, its usally red or yellow plastic sleeve that anchors the screw in the wall, but I think you would have to drill another hole.  If you found one of those you might be able to use one and some caulk to remedy the situation.

Also, I think a bribe is probably in order.  $20 to Mya should cover it.

And honey, PLEASE do not move furniture.

I have no help to the question you actually pose, but damn_I would have been in a hoot of trouble had Mya seen me at Christmas on the ladder at 23 weeks PG & just today hanging out the 4th floor window shoveling snow off the roof.

Rowen caught me standing on the kitchen counter this morning and started yelling, "you are going to hurt the baby!"

I actually just had this problem with my curtain rod two days ago.  I just used an anchor and it worked fine for me.  But it depends on how big your hole is.

  • You have to get a wall anchor....they are white plastic screw type thingies that you screw in the wall first and then screw the screw in that.
