Anyway... did anyone watch last night?
As much as I've wanted Suede to go, I liked his outfit better than Kenley's last night. Although, I guess it's obvious he won't be in the top 3, so they wanted to keep some suspense for next week.
I get that Leann was trying to not go too costumy, but that's the style of country she went for. I think a different direction she could have gone with it would have been that wouldn't have been costumy would have been a white, cotton dress with a very feminine shape, eyelets, subtle ruffles, light brown leather accessories like this, sort of...though I'd add a belt with a big buckle to emphasis the country:

I was SHOCKED that Kenley didn't go home. I really liked her in the beginning, and I still really like her stuff (well not her hiphop stuff, but...), but her attitude is totally going to be her downfall. Take some criticism, chick!
It would be so cool, though, to have an all female finale.

I knew when he was revealed as the guest judge that Kenly was screwed. That girl cannot take questioning or criticisim. That's going to make fashion a tough road for her.
Agreed and agreed. I think Kenley's was worse, but her overall body of work was better. And I kinda do think that she was screwed w/ making Leanne Hip hip. Girl is NOT hip hop! And I would have trouble with that anyhow - IMO hip hop and country were way harder than any of the other genres. COuntry - like they said - making it country but not dolly parson costume. I agree with you - white eyelet dress with boots and a leather belt. Country for sure but pretty and not a costume. I didnt think the country outfit looked good on korto AT ALL. I actually think that Leanne and Kenley should have been bottom two (though Im SO glad suede is GONE) It was kinda cute on the mannequin but not when it was done. And Leanne didnt sell her outfit she was wearing at all, which IMO wasnt right.

Yeah kenley didnt know what hip hop is at all. I was thinking TIGHT (normal) jeans with a top with some fur and bling.
But... even a perfect hip hop outfit. Imagine it on Leanne. Would NOT look hip hop or good! WOuld look, IMO, ridiculous!
I agree that country and hip hop were the most difficult... although, I have to say Rock is pretty tricky as well.
I think Leann tried to sell it, she did some sort of arm movement. But her thug walk just looked like that of a sullen teenager.
And yeah, who doesn't cry next episode?? That's crazy!
See I saw it as - she walked normal - did some cheesy exaggerated "hip hop" move, then walked back. I read it as her not trying at all, esp since she has not made a secret of not liking kenley. It was just cheesy to me, and seemed like intentional. JMO though

I don't think the failure to sell was intentional. That girl looked like she honestly had no idea HOW to sell it.
IMO probably both. I think it was partly intentional since she doesnt like her... but ya know, even if they were BFFs I dont think Leanne woudl be convincing so... true true.
As a Bronx resident, I do have to say that the high waisted jeans are currently becoming very popular among urban women. However, I'm still not sure I'd classify it as a 'hip hop' look. But, since hip hop draws from urban fashions, it could go there.
I think this would have been cute, actually:
Hip Hop women can be badass or sexy. While Leann is neither of those really, sexy is much more believable than badass.
I have to agree with meshaliu (esp about LL Cool J!). I think leanne just didn't know what she was doing. I'm sure she knew the outfit was way off from what it should have been. maybe that made her too nervous to sell it well?
I'm giving Leanne the benefit of the doubt b/c she's my current fav (or koto sp?). Kenley has GOT to go. Not b/c of her clothes but b/c she needs to fail and learn some humility. I can't believe her attitude with Tim. He has his own fashion show and she acts like he's a fashion morAn. How many designers would kill to get Tim's advice and she disregards it like he's some frumpy midwesterner.

What I find amusing is that she'll take Jerrell and Korto's advice - her competitors who have every motivation to sabotage her - over advice from Tim, the objective mentor figure. Methinks she only wants hip hop advice from black people...which is silly as anyone really in the industry should have a working knowledge of all of the different styles.
Edited to clarify: All the different popular styles. It only matters if it's a money maker. Hip hop style can definitely be a money maker.
Kenley needs to go. Ditto everyone about her attitude and how she treats Tim. She started out as one of my favorites, but has seriously gone downhill. And as for hip hop, I think the high-waisted pants could have been great, but it was the top and especially the jacket that were way off. The jacket was too tailored and leather was the wrong material.?
I think country would be the hardest because now country stars don't really dress "country" as in ranch-wear as much. You were right on MD.
?And I love that you used Carrie as an example. She's from my county! (went to our rival high school....but we don't like to mention that! lol)

Haha - I heard a song the other day that I think would be fantastic for her. Josh Young has a recording of it on itunes - 'How to Not Be With You'. They always have men sing it, but I really think Carrie could really sell it.
