American Idol peeps
I normally don't start tuning in to AI until the Top 8, but this year I kind of "know" a contestant who just made it through to the Top 24 last night.
I saw Aaron Kelly (the 16 yr old with the "hard luck" story of being raised by his aunt) perform in his hometown about 4 years ago when he was a wee child! He was sooo good, even at that age.
So, for the first time in 8 (?) seasons, I'm actually rooting for someone!
Who's watching? Anyone know/knew a previous AI contestant?

I drive through Aaron Kelly's hometown on my way to DH's parents, so it was kinda cool to actually know where someone was from.
But so far this season, my favorites so far are Mike, the personal trainer who just had a baby, and the guy with a neck tattoo (I don't remember his name but he sang a version of Paula Abdul's song)
I usually only watch it during the auditions but this year I think I'll watch the whole thing. I'm getting sucked in
gmk, I love those contestants too!
Pardon me if we already discussed, but where do DH's parents live? Sonestown is about a half hour from me.

They live in Sayre, which is along the New York border. We live near Harrisburg so the only logical way to get there is by taking 220

I don't know anyone who has been a contestant, but I have been to tapings of American Idol three times, making it on the air once.
First time was Country Week during Season 2 (I was cheering for Clay; my BFF was cheering for Josh Gracin). Second time was for a Q&A session with the remaining Top 5 in Season 3 (I don't know if they still do those). During that one they had them each sing after the Q&A. Since my BFF and I had dressed all cute and girly, they put us in the front row of the crowd. We danced with Diana DiGarmo, and we met Jon Peter Lewis in the parking lot (I'll look for the picture...)
The third time I was actually in the Kodak Theatre when Carrie Underwood won. That was amazing.

I think Aaron Kelly is awesome. I don't know anyone on the show, but he's the one that stands out to me the most.
As for Ellen....I don't get it. What does she have to do with music at all? Why is she a judge on the show? She doesn't sing, she doesn't write music, she doesn't play music....why should she be judging other people's musical talents?
