So one of my preschool students got poked on the eye by another student, and he came to me bawling...sooooooo...I consoled him....by smashing his face in my bewbies and rubbing it back and forth while I was hugging him. I was so concerned about the poor boy that I did not even realize what I was doing. Thank goodness they are so innocent (well, some of them) and don't know any better. Good gravy.
Re: Oops
this. i'm glad you guys were able to laugh about it!
I know the concern & feeling- I have students who come running in to hug me, and I stand there like a mannequin. This is junior high, so that is rare- but I feel like it is so touchy.
When we bring the kids overseas we let down our guard a bit- I feel like they are probably not getting the hugs they would get at home, so if they are sick or something, we act *gasp* as if they are our kids, too.
Michael had a little girl student a few years ago who was pushed down the stairs by another child and he went running in like Superman to save her- picked her up & carried her to safety. Afterward he was so concerned about his reaction- sad world, huh?
