How much to tip

I'm getting an at home massage on Sunday and I have no idea what to tip the person. I've only got 3 massages in my life and they were all at studios, never at my house. Any suggestions? I was thinking $20-30.

Re: How much to tip

  • Tip 20% of whatever the total cost is.
  • So that's the issue. I don't know how much it is because I won it in a silent auction at a charity event.
  • Typically a one hour massage will cost 50-80 bucks. That's a wide range, so I usually tip about 10 bucks on a $50 one unless they're insanely good at it, then I'd tip a little more. I think if you are budgeting for 20-30, that sounds pretty good. I'd probably go with $20, and if it turns out the massuse is ridiculously good, then tip a little more.

That's a cool thing to win at a silent auction! I'm jealous haha.

  • Thanks, this is helpful. I'm so excited for it and I never treat myself to this kind of stuff so it'll be so nice and relaxing.
  • Ohhh I see! What a nice thing to win.

I'd probably tip $20 or $25. Make sure they know you won it at a silent auction (for charity?) and how awesome it was for them to donate their services to a worthy cause...that way they know..lol
