Raleigh restaurant recommendations?

I'm going to be in Raleigh next week near the state fairgrounds.  Any good restaurants nearby for dinner?  I'll need dinner 2 nights, but since I'm there for an exam, it will be low key.  I'd still like to go somewhere yummy though and not end up with room service!  TIA!

Re: Raleigh restaurant recommendations?

  • Not too far from the fairgrounds is Bella Monica (www.bellamonica.com) - awesome Italian food, cute restaurant.  It is small, though, so you will definitely need to call & make reservations (ex: I called around 2pm on a Friday for reservations that night, and the earliest I could get was 8:30).  Totally worth it, though!
  • There are a ton of awesome restaurants in Raleigh!  If you make your way out to I-70 you will find a cute little Italian place called Assaggio's.  I just found this place a couple of weeks ago...tiny little bistro feel with amazing garlic knots!  The prices are really great too for all the food you get.  If you want to venture downtown there is a great Lebanese place called Sitti.  The hummus is worth making the trip for!  It looks like a converted warehouse with low lighting and cool atmosphere.  If you go to www.downtownraleigh.com you can find a whole list with descriptions of what they serve.  Oh, and if you like sushi there is a great place called Mura at the North Hills Shopping Center.  You would just need to jump on 1-440 and get off at the North Hills exit.  Happy eating!!
  • The Pit is fantastic and is great BBQ!
  • Thanks ladies!  I knew you'd have some good recommendations!
  • I ditto Bella Monica and am a fan of the Village Draft House at Cameron Village, it's part of a local chain with beer & burger type food.
  • Chubby's tacos on Lake Boone

    Which Which on Lake Boone

There is also a bistro beside Which Which which is good but I can't recall the name of it right now.

  • I agree w/ Bella Monica. And Chubby's Tacos and Which Which are both good, fresh and inexpensive. Edwards Mill Bar & Grill has good bar food too & is in the same shopping area as Bella Monica. If you want sushi, Waraji is not far from there either.
  • Thanks again for the recommendations!  Looks like it will be Bella Monica one night, and now I'm going to check out the other places to figure out where to go the next night!
