We are trying to cut expenses anywhere possible. We currently are with Verizon but were wondering if we could find a cheaper plan. Anyone have any recs, including pre-paid phones, and some of the more obscure services like Vonage and such? Any input is appreciated.
Re: Cell Phone Help
I use AT&T, and get a discount on my monthly bill because of my employer. I know AT&T has deals like that with lots of companies, actually--not just major employers in Austin.
So sorry, no rec for a different service, but as you're checking, you might ask if they offer discounts for whatever company employs you/your DH.

I don't know what kind of plan you need in terms of minimum minutes, but we found T-Mobile the least expensive for our needs. We have the least expensive plan that lets you add a line for $10, giving us the 2 lines, and we share 1000 min. (Plus minutes aren't counted on calls between DH and me.)
If you have a Sam's Club membership, I think you can get a discount with all carriers, but know for sure with T-Mobile. We just found that out recently after over two years w/ them, and we even signed up initially at Sam's.
By the way, I thought it was funny because you'd given me suggestions in my V-day meal post, and we actually ended up making sweet potato fries to go with heart-shaped burgers.
we have verizon and I've been tempted to switch after hearing about all of the great deals lately. I'm hesitant, especially to switch to a smaller co., because a) not sure if the coverage will be as good and b) most of my family has verizon so we don't pay for calls to each other.
costco also has something similar to sam's so you might want to check there, too, if you have a membership.
or, call your company and see if they'll negotiate with you.
