(already posted on baby board)
My parents are coming into Austin tomorrow. My mom just emailed me saying she wants to see some live music and get a drink or two on Saturday night. I work a lot during the week (and some weekends) so any free Saturday night I have is generally spent with DH on the couch, recovering from my week.
However, I'd like to find somewhere fun to take my mom and dad. They're definitely fun and I'd like to show them a good time. We'd need a place that served drinks and where we could definitely get a table and be able to talk.
I'm totally open to area of town, I'd just perfer to avoid the young 20s "downtown" kinda crowd.
Any ideas? I've got exactly zero and would appreciate your help!
Re: xp: Entertaining my parents
I know exactly what you are looking for though and my in-laws are coming next weekend and would like the same atmosphere. Maybe Cool River? There is a man that plays old country music (he's GREAT) at Mesa Ranch. Ranch 616 has a band and that is a great place for a drink and food. You could always go to Gruene--my dad thinks that is the coolest town ever.
I feel like these are lame suggestions. I'd love to know what you end up doing as I may copy you next weekend.
