We REALLY did not like this particular episode at ALL. Okay, wait. I take it back. We liked the fact that Jim proposed to Pam, and how he did it. But other than that, there was just too much jammed into the episode. Some issues that we had:
1) Allowing Ryan to come back. WTH?? He was awesome as the temp originally, but going to NY and becoming an ass really killed his character. Having him come back as a temp again was stupid. Really a "jump the shark" moment.
2) Does anyone else get the feeling that Micheal has some homosexual feelings towards Ryan? It always annoys me that Michael constantly wants to "be like Ryan" and the weird, off the wall comments that he makes (calling him the office tease, for one).
3) While I realize it's a t.v. show, IRL if someone did what Dwight did to Phyllis, they would have been fired. I was hoping that she would AT LEAST smacked the crap out of him...but no. Corporate just decided to not do a weigh in that week.
4) What's the deal with Angela and Andy?? Usually she's so straight to the point with issues, but she is deliberately leading Andy on. They're not really explaining why. It's obviously not to make Dwight jealous because they're screwing around on the side.
5) MAKE JAN GO AWAY! Her 5 minute appearance wasn't needed and it was almost out of place. Why have her pop in like that? You would think based on last season she would be there every day hanging out with Michael since she wants a father for the baby....though I still have my doubts that she's really pregnant. Too many holes in that story.
Re: Tonight's Office episode: spoilers inside..
I think the writers have definitely brought more drama into the show, and it is soooooooooooooooo obvious that the guy that Pam has befriended at her school will eventually come into play with her and Jim, but all and all I liked the episode.
I could do without Ryan too, but I think he and Toby are writers for the show so I dont see them leaving as characters for 'good.'
