Recommend your cheap shampoo/conditioner

I tried the Herbal Essences Hydralicious on the raves from a previous post (which I didn't bookmark). I don't like it =( I feel like it's made my hair rough. I also don't like the way it smells when I blow dry my hair.

Can someone tell me a different not too pricy one to try? My hair is not colored, slightly wavy and otherwise normal. I LOVE Aveda products but being part time for the girls now means that's a no go.

I rotate Dove, TreSemme and...uh....is it Revlon? Some make-up brand started making hair products recently.

I also use Head & Shoulders shampoo along with regular shampoo. Its the only way I can get a good lather and feel like my hair is clean. But my hair is pretty thick and I only wash it about twice a week.

I use Treseme's Anti-breakage shampoo and condition. I like it a lot! It keeps my hair soft and manageable.

I think I read the same post you are talking about and I went out and bought the Tresame brand shampoo/conditioner based on the recommendations. I never even considered Tresame brand so I was surprised to read all the recs, but it smells good (not too strong) and lathers up a lot which I like. I got the Restorative kind because my hair has been so dry. I think it was like $3.50 per each big bottle at Target. I'm very pleased!

If you're looking for a more natural-ish alternative, try Yes To Carrots shampoo and conditioner (they carry the line at Target). It's paraben-free and smells nice (basically the same scent as the lotion if there's a tester handy). I just switched to that from Giovanni (another natural hair products line) and like it a lot!

Yes, I bought it out of pure nostalgia at one of the big HEBs and I actually like the way it works. I bought it for the smell, though -reminds me of childhood.

I'm still using up some old stuff that's taking forever, but I used EverPure at my parents' house and really liked it. That's what my mom uses and her hair has been looking great and shiny. L'Oreal also just came out with EverStrong, which looks good too. I'm looking forward to buying one of them when my old stuff is finally gone!

I really like the Whole Foods 365 shampoo and conditioner. It's only $2.99 a bottle, and it works great. The shampoo takes some getting used to because it doesn't contain sodium laureth sulfate (or whatever the name is), so it doesn't lather up the way that most shampoos do. It comes in two varieties (normal to dry and normal to oily) and three scents (lavender, mint, and citrus).

Lately I've been using Pert Plus and I like it. I also like using the plain Neutrogena stuff once a week to help avoid build up. When I have money I LOVE Pureology.

DH used to love this shampoo, but I think they changed the formula recently. The last bottle we bought was super oily and left a ton of residue on DH's hair. Ew. Of course, it took him half a bottle to notice.
