Chicks man!

I am getting chicks this week.  So exciting!  I will be sure to take photos and post.  Yay!

Re: Chicks man!

  • Really?  To raise for eggs, I assume?  How cool!  I've always heard that fresh eggs taste so much better...I just can't imagine what they'd taste like.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • yes, to raise for eggs.  We decided in the fall that we were going to get them this spring.  I love the idea of fresh eggs!
  • Yay! They will be so cute!
  • That's awesome! DH and I are so excited to get some when we have a house :)
  • That's really neat. How does it work though? I mean, I know how it works, but do you have to set up your yard a particular way and how do they deal with the cold? I'm so dumb when it comes to this kind of stuff!

For now the chicks will stay inside where it is warm.  In about 12 weeks they will be ready to move outdoors to a coop.  You need to make sure the coop is warm enough for winter and that their water will not freeze.

When I saw the subject of this post, all I could think of was the Dane Cook routine where he said "Chicks man, where I can get some chicks? Oh, aisle 3? Ok! Chicks dude, chicks!" Stick out tongue

But that's really cool! I think DH and I want to do that, too. When we get out of our apartment of course, haha.

That's funny, Laina, because I thought of  The Soup with Joel McHale and the segment "Lets talk about chicks, man." DH loves that show.

How exciting about the chicks!  I've always thought that would be great, except for the whole we live in an apartment thing.  I didn't realize how much work it can be or how hard it can be until I read about it on someone's blog.

I'm sure you've done your research, but this could be helpful too, she goes into a lot of detail about her experience.

I was quoting Joel!  Ha ha ha!

My husband actually had chickens growing up so this isn't new to him.  It is all new to me though.  I am excited!
