mattress shopping recommendations?
How much should I expect to pay for a quality King sized mattress?
We do not want a tempurpedic/memory foam
Any recommendations on brands ?
I see that original mattress factory is reasonably priced... after googling reviews I am not so sure about quality.. but I am finding bad reviews about all brands..
Re: mattress shopping recommendations?
I had asked on the baby boards about a month or so ago, and it seemed people recommended Original Mattress Factory, Sleep Number, and Tempurpedic.
While I'd love a Tempur, it's out of our price range. So is a Sleep Number. We have a subscription to Consumer Reports and OMF actually got the best reviews in the 'spring' class, so if/when we get a new mattress, we'll prob. get one from here.
This. And our King bed is from there too. My parents loved the guest bed so much, they just bought 2 twins for their guest room! The quality is really good, if you live near a factory you can take a tour and see how the mattress is made. The box springs are HEAVY, made from quality wood.
If price is no object (which I'm sure is not the case) but one day I hope to get a Kingsdown mattress. Sleep to Live may be the brand they sell under. Made in Mebane, NC and I've only ever heard praise about their products. But definitely $$$.
I have a temper-pedic esque bed (similar concept, but I have the Sealy brand version of it) and don't really care for it. I'm borderline narcoleptic and for whatever reason, our mattress just doesn't make me really happy. Maybe it's the fact that I can't flip it--all I can do is rotate it--but it bugs me that we have body "sag" areas. (and I've checked--our "sag" isn't enough to activate the warranty--they have a measurement to go by. bleh)
