Lets Debate... Just for fun!

Over on S&R we have been getting a TON of virgin brides. What's your take on it? How do you feel when people are congratulated for waiting?

Re: Lets Debate... Just for fun!

  • I commend them. It was a person decision that they made and stuck to it. It was an accomplishment for them. I always say 'to each, his own'. If they wanted to wait, it was their choice. Who am I to judge them on their decision?

  • I agree.  It is their decision and if they are strong even to stick to it, that is great.  I think it takes a lot of will power to resist the urge to go that next step when you are in the "heat of the moment."

As a side note, I don't think it is bad not to wait...I think you do learn some things about yourself and your partner.  You can't ignore the closeness that making love brings to two people.  I sex is a very impartont part of a realationship.

  • I give them a pat on the back. I think it should happen more. Anyone who can wait until they get married, and I mean married, not until they are engaged or anything like that deserves a medal.  This world is getting crazy, and there is more emphasis to NOT be a virgin than there is TO be on.

I wasn't one when I got married, but DH was my one and only.  I can understand the wanting to wait until marriage and the turmoil of not.  I also give their husbands a great deal of respect for respecting these women during the relationship and not pushing sex.  That is so cool.

  • I wouldn't congratulate someone for waiting and I'm not even particularily impressed if the bride is really young.  Now if she getting married over the age of 25 and has waited, then I'm slightly impressed.

What really drives me crazy is folks who refer to themselves as born again virigins.  That's just downright annoying.

  • My thought is kudos to them. That is a decision they made and they stuck to it. Is it the right decision for everyone? no. Honestly I love my husband but I wanted to know how good he was in bed before we were married.
  • It wasn't something that DH and I could've done, but kudos to anyone who could wait.

Now, people who get married just so they can finally have sex is a completely different story. I have issue with that.
