Making own wedding album?
Did anyone make their own? I know a few people posted on it but how did they come out and how is the quality? I'm using shutterfly to make our parent albums but I want something a little nicer for ours with good quality photos
Re: Making own wedding album?
I was going to do my own, but I didn't have the patience to figure out the program. I paid someone to do the layout and she ordered through a company she works with. It was cheaper than going through my photographer, but still cost me about $1k. I also did 100 photos, so that cost more. It looked very professional and I'm happy with it.

this is the site I was going to use when I was attempting DIY:

Passionate Albums did a much better job designing the album than I would have done.
I am not doing my own album but am making parent albums using Blurb. They have the option to upgrade to premium paper so it's a but nicer than the other photo sites. They have hardcover with a dust jacket or image wrap (I am using the image wrap). You can also invest more and opt for a leather cover (I think the books are $250+).
I don't have reviews yet but Blurb came highly recommended and it is pretty user friendly with a lot of options for customizing.
Check out the photography board here and on The Knot. There were a few girls with quality sites that will either let you lay out or lay out for you at a cheaper cost.
We didn't do our album right away, but went back to our photographer (Sarah Schulte) to have it done for our 1st wedding anniversary. I have links to my layouts in my bio below.
If you want a really well laid-out album, I'd say go with a pro. If you're ok with a drag and drop and just putting it on better paper, you can probably manage. I have layout experience (with newspapers, but not graphic art) and it would have taken me forever to do my own. I started it and became a miserable witch because I was so critical and it was taking me so long. We decided it was worth the $$ to call Sarah and save my sanity.
Thanks girls, It's something I'm going to try and if it doesn't work out I'll go through my photographer (Kamila). I just wanted to see if I could do it and I enjoy doing stuff like that so we'll see
