Happy Ash Wednesday everyone that celebrates it.
Today is the Catholic religion fasting day and tomorrow we give up something for the length of lent.
What are you giving up?
Im giving up red meat and DH is giving up smoking. I hope it sticks and DH goes through the full length and eventually quit. We will see.

Re: Ash Wednesday
* Tell your Dh good luck with the smoking! My Dh quit about 6 months ago and I am loving it!!
I haven't totally figure out what I am giving up yet.... I always do sweets or caffeine but this year for some reason I feel like I need to stray away from the food products...
I am thinking that I am going to give up (or try my hardest to) being short with Dh, and losing my patience and yelling or shouting at Dh and DD. More or less I want to try to become more patient and try to help my daughter realize that we dont have to scream and yell to get things done. My co-woker said it best I think I am giving up my impatience....we will see how it goes.
That is a neat idea - patience is definitely a virtue that God can help you develop, so lent sounds like a good time to "give up" your impatience and work on this. Let us know how it goes.
I usually give up something food-related too, but I'm not sure. Guess I need to decide today!
I'm Greek Orthodox so we have specific guidelines for Lent and fasting rather than giving up something of our choosing. I'm not eating meat on Wednesdays or Fridays - it's the least amount of fasting we can do (becasue I'm breastfeeding).
DH is doing the whole 40 day fast - no meat or animal byproducts, no fish with a spine, no olive oil. Basically, it's a vegan diet + some allowed shellfish.
