Virtual Knottie Night and other stuff
Hey Mods,
I'd love to hear about when and how the Virtual Knottie Night (I saw that one of you are calling it a Virtual GTG) is going and what day you picked. Also, if you are not participating in this, another idea (you can do both), is to do a day-of-the-week themed post. I know that many boards to do already, but some ideas might include:
Money Monday, Newbie Tuesday, Favorites (TV, Movies, Wedding-Related, Food Blogs-new theme each week) Wednesday, Confession Thurs...you get the idea. Maybe you can even keep it going through the weekend.
Let me know what works (well) on your board.
Thanks!

Re: Virtual Knottie Night and other stuff
On Etiquette, we usually have Confession Thursdays and Flame Free Fridays. Those work pretty well on our board and are always entertaining.
We've done random ones like Unpopular Opinions or I Judge but not on specific days of the week, just whenever someone is bored and decides to start one.

It's a post where you can pretty much gripe or say anything about happenings on the board or knotties on the board and not get "flamed" or criticized for it. The knottie you're posting about isn't supposed to get all defensive or anything. I wouldn't recommend it unless your board members have a tough skin. Etiquette is pretty tough so most of us enjoy it. Plus it gives you one post once a week to get your frustrations out instead of taking them out on each other all week long.
Our Knottie Night (as we are calling it) is Wednesday night at 8pm...still dosen't work out too well for the west coast ladies b/c that winds up to be 5pm...we are still trying to figure that one out
But we had so much fun and mostly non wedding talk which was great!! I think we had about 40 knotties on last night!
Sometimes we'll do a WTFW (what the F wednesday) where we'll vent about stuff going on in our life...We are all up to the 8 month mark so our wedding planning are really in strong force right now so we post mostly about planning...
My board is attempting Knottie Night on Sunday. We'll see what happens.
We already do Lurker Monday, Tell Me Tuesday, Flame Free Wednesday(TAME compared to P&E...my girls usually don't name names, lol), Open Letters Thursday, TGIF, and AW Weekend.
So, no matter how dead the board is, those usually get fairly high.
Oh, and we have been doing Knottie of the Day since Jan. We did it last year in Feb, too. Helps us get to know some of the newer girls.
It's almost here! Weeeeeeee!

Our board is interested in Virtual Knottie Night, and it looks like Tuesday will be our night. Time TBD.
Annie, how will this be promoted? I'm wondering how new Knotties will know that we'll be online to help them out - probably something to put in our boards header? Not sure!

We are doing Virtual Knottie Nights on Sundays...
We shall see how it goes.

We just did it on Tuesday night and it went REALLY well. The regulars loved it.
I also have a regular who is fantastic and she'll create random polls of the day and this week she asked the newbies to introduce themselves which was also great.
My board did this last night and I was amazed. I have NEVER seen that much activity on the June 2010 board, ever.
The brides all said they loved it and wanted to keep doing it. So, we will.
I had at least 20 girls posting for about 3 hours, newer girls and regulars. I could not have been more pleased.
Today, I had a few saying that they were bummed that they missed it but I assured them that we will be doing it every Sunday.

Ok an update:
The ladies on my board couldn't really do nights so we are doing Virtual Knottie Days .. Or I am just going to post a topic in the morning before I go to work and the ladies will respond to it when they get a chance.
Last night was the kick off of that day topic of introducing ourselves and talking about of weddings and etc and it went well and I am so excited!! Just wanted to share.
We did Knottie night again tonight and it was even more busy than the first week! I am not kidding... every post on the first page was from about 5 CST and later. I was impressed.
Some girls that missed it last week stopped in this week.
Posts were wedding related and not. The girls really seem to like it.
