NER: bachelorette party advice/ideas

Help me-- I suck at this stuff! I have to plan my friend's bachelorette party with very little time (she's the one who cancelled the wedding but not it's back on). I'm not the MOH, but her sister is and lives far away plus has a toddler and a new baby , so it's falling on me to do it. I hate party planning and am horrible at organizing groups of people, plus it makes me really anxious and high-strung. Sigh.

Smart nesties, any ideas of how I can plan a fun but minimal-fuss bachelorette party in two weeks? She doesn't have any requests and doesn't care what we do. Doesn't want a male stripper, thank goodness.

  • Resturanunt and clubbing?

  • spa with champagne followed by a fun dinner (think melting pot, or tapas or something)

In hindsight I would have WAY rather done this - instead we did the clubbing thing. Ehhhh.

I like this one better. Do this.

We did tapas, Thunder Down Under and clubbing. It was like 1am when we went clubbing. I was tired and could have done without. Good up until that, though.

... make a night of dinner, movie, bowling or mini golf.

ditto this.  I wish we'd done this; we went clubbing, which is so not my scene...

  • Thanks, ladies. I'm thinking the spa/dinner thing would be best, because I'm not a clubber and she's definitely not, either.

I bought a bunch of fake penises and we went bar hoping.  It was lame b/c my BM decided to fight with each other and bailed on me.

But I did love the fake plastic penises!  I would say either bar hop or make a night of dinner, movie, bowling or mini golf.

Yeah teh penis straws were the best part ;)

Mine was lame bc SIL was high and way way wayyyyyy out of it as a result. So... it sucked BIG time. (she is clean now).

  • My girlfriends all chipped in and got a suite at the Hyatt.  They all brought food and alcohol, and chick flicks and bought me a super cute set of PJs.  And a tiara, of course.  We then had a slumber party.

It was so much fun.  I highly recommend it.

  • How many people are going? I went to one BP that was at a fondue place, which would have been cool except that there were like 20 of us and we had to sit in smaller groups b/c they don't have a room/table for groups that big, so it didn't feel like we were at a party.

I think the easiest ones are the dinner/drinks at a home or restaurant then clubbing. That's what most of the ones I went to were like. My sister thew mine and she did it all at home. She got a friend to be the  bar tender and made up hilarious games (for one she got a lifesize foam cut out of my DH's head on a naked weight-lifter's body). It was awesome but a LOT of work. dinner/clubbing is way easier.

I just threw a BP a year ago and I had everyone over to my house for a tapas/drinks thing then we went to club. No fake penises, but we did make the bride wear a crown/sash. (she's more of the princess type.)

I have one piece of advice. hopefully you know the girls attending the party. if you go to the club and the guests are not the kind of girls who know they're supposed to be buying the bride drinks then take up a collection before you get there or you will get stuck doing it all b/c you feel bad.

I did that too actually! forgot about it until you said it. It was super fun.

  • ESF's party sounds awesome! do that.

i did dinner and an casual girlie club outing. no strippers, no penis paraphernalia. and it was hella fun. but it certainly doesn't work for every crowd.

i'm sorta at the point where i've been to an excess of ridiculous bachelorette parties. i hope never again to see another penis straw, oily nekkid dude, or worse yet, a ginormous penis cake.

  • I hate bachelorette parties so I'm probably no help. We planned our own and just hosted a joint his/hers party at a brewery and then did an art walk around town. We had fun. No strippers in sight.

I also hate making other people plan parties in my honor.

Throw a bunch of penis' around a room and call it a party.

    Yeah....I'm really no help.

I wish I were your bridesmaid (or at least that my friend felt the same way). She expects a big production, but is herself a huge flake (case in point she was ridiculously late to my wedding and I believe she left early, yet expects the opposite from me).
