Scary and tragic
So yesterday we had a family birthday party at my stepdad's house to celebrate my stepdad's, his sister's, his son's, and my birthdays. It was an awesome day filled with a lot of fun and laughter.
Later in the evening after everyone had left, my mom, stepdad, DH and myself were sitting around the dining room table talking and joking when we heard this roaring sound followed by a huge BOOM and the whole house shook. We didn't really know what had happened, but apparently a small airplane hit his neighbor's house less than half a mile from where we were sitting. Last night we watched from his back patio as one large and several smaller explosions erupted into a roaring fire that burned their house to the ground. It was the most eerie and horrible thing I have ever heard and seen and I am so thankful that my family is safe and sound. Luckily no one in the home was injured (and thankfully some brave neighbors broke into the house and saved their 3 yellow lab puppies) but the two people in the plane died in the crash. This happened on the outskirts of our town and it is a crazy coincidence that the plane hit the house- and also crazy that it was the only home in the subdivision that was unoccupied at the time. Please send out some prayers for the families of the people on board, and for the family whose home was hit- last night they literally were left with the shirts on their backs.

wow! glad to hear you guys are safe and no one was in the house when it happened! this is my all time biggest fear besides car wreaks.. not sure why but its always in the back of my mind that a plane will crash where I live.
