Where should I stay in Vegas?

I'm finally going to Vegas!  Party!!!  My husband has been a bunch of times for bach. parties, but I always got left at home.  I'm so excited to report I finally get to go to over the Easter weekend!  Yah!  So, now where do I stay?  I have been considering Planet Hollywood and Aria, but I would love to know your favorites!  I definitely want to stay on the strip for the full experience.  TIA!

Re: Where should I stay in Vegas?

  • I can give you a review of the Monte Carlo on March 10 :) It was the least expensive "decent" hotel we could find that was in the middle of things on the strip--and we're definitely shooting for budget-friendly on our trip in a couple months.
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

  • ha!  we're going this weekend...we found a great deal on travelzoo with platinum hotel, I think it's relatively new, although a bit off of the strip.  it's definitely worth it to stay close (if not on) the strip, best location is between  tropicana ave (NYNY, MGM) and flamingo rd (bellagio, paris), IMHO.

there were some great deals listed on travelzoo, you might want to start there.  oh, and tripadvisor will check a few different sites for prices.

  • Oh, and check out a few hotel's web sites and sign up for their guestbook. They send deals via email all the time.

  • i went to vegas for a bachelorette party in 07 and stayed at planet hollywood. i'd definitely recommend it! the rooms where really nice, the bathrooms huge. the location is great - right near the bellagio in the middle of the strip. The casino was one of the biggest we went to. they had tons of tables (and cheaper tables which is always nice). oh and the buffet was fabulous, and i'm usually not a big buffet person. the only downside to PH imo is the pool. it's pretty small and there wasn't a lot of shade. we went to it for a few hours and it's fine if you just want to go for a little while, but we ended up sneaking into the pool at the MGM for their lazy river. have a great trip!

  • I stayed at the Paris when I went and it was great.  Very nice hotel with everything you could want under one roof, helpful staff, & great location.
  • I have stayed at the following:

Stratosphere - I went on a girls trip, and the bride wanted to stay there, I hated it, will not go back. The location is really far, the hotel is really old and raggedy. The food was really bad ,....

Monte Carlo - very nice and clean for the price, the location wasn't too bad either.

NYNY - the room we had was really small, and if you are not lucky you may get a room facing the rollo coaster which is very loud and annoying. It was a little too far on the south end of the strip. The spa isn't all that!

Planet Hollywood - The lobby, casino and clubs were really nice and well kept, the rooms are remodeled but they leave a bit to be desired, not so much attention to details, also I don't like it when the guest room towels are not white! The location is great, very easy access to everything on the strip. Didn't use the spa.

Palazzo - very pretty, we loved having a seating room, the service however wasn't so great but they just had a massive lay offs. Toiletry is really nice, when I came back I saw the same brand of soaps, ... at Saks that cost $$$. The Canyon Ranch is very nice, too, really cool rainforest showers, ...

Bellagio - This was our best stay ever, we had a really nice room, the service was great, the bathroom was huge and nice. The only draw back is you have to walk the whole casino before getting to the room elevators. The spa was nice but not as nice as the Canyon Ranch.

  • For the Buffet: I have been to many on the strip and Wynn and Bellagio are the top 2 IMHO.

For a really good out of this world burger you should go to BLT Burger in Mirage.

Olive has really tasty flatbread/pizzas at Bellagio.

Stratta in Wynn has really good italian food and the decor is really pretty.

have fun!! I wish we were planning a Vegas trip.

  • We stayed at Mandalay Bay and LOVED it. My only complaint would be the location, at the far end of the strip. Great room, loved the bathroom, helpful staff, nice pool.. would definitely stay there again!
  • Dang it, this thread is making me want to go back to Vegas, bad!!  Stick out tongue

  • I just realized - when exactly are you going?  depending on the weather and if you will be using the pool is pretty big.  since you can't (usually) get into another hotel's pool area without being a guest, you might want to stay somewhere with a good pool.  mandalay bay definitely has one of the better pool areas, IMO.

  • I go pretty often for work. Usually stay at Mandalay Bay which is awesome but uber expensive.

For fun, Monte Carlo was my least favorite stay. Belaggio my favorite! New York New York is great also. I really like the piano bar and the irish pub in there!

  • We stay at the Mirage everytime we go, and we LOVE it!  Awesome location, awesome price, and newly remodeled rooms. We have had one problem with them during one of our stays and we immediately got a new room and addtl comps. Check out visitor picks on trip advisor.

  • Thanks so much everybody!  We are going Easter weekend (my mom is going to be pissed I'll be missing church!), so I think it might still be a bit too chilly for the pool.  Thanks again for all the recs...now I just have to choose one!
