Re: The debate is on!
Yes, and I'm sorry, but McCain looks like a big giant douchebag for all this haranguing over a long scheduled debate that he ultimately attends.
McCain: - 5 points
Obama: + 5 points
LOL I think you're just upset you spent so much time demonizing him for something republicans told you was going to happen.
Which republicans told me this was going to happen? *scratches head*
Every article I have read in the past 48 hours state "debate in limbo." Did I miss the memo where it was proclaimed that the debate would happen no matter what?
I meant conservatives on this board. We were all saying he wasn't going to cancel it and that this was just a political maneuver.
Oh okay. Got it. But I don't remember reading anyone on here saying that McCain would be debating no matter what he publicly stated about canceling. And for that matter, no republican on here told me "what was going to happen." But I will defer to your word.
Well I know I did, but it's no big deal. I tried to find this one particular post but there are too many threads to search through. (search feature = FAIL) My main point (I think reiterated by KatieAggie and Tef) was that he never canceled the debate, he just mentioned delaying it. Then when it looked like a settlement was reached (which I actually didn't believe) I said this was a political maneuver to make it look like his call for action produced the settlement bill and then he could go on and debate looking like he's the leader of the bailout solution. Everyone would think he was busy working out a deal instead of practicing, which would add to his prestige in the foreign policy department - making his knowledge look natural (KWIM? I'm probably not making any sense.) We know now the deal wasn't real, but we also know that McCain did have a hand in setting up the bipartisan meeting and he did maneuver behind the scenes to get the republicans to stand up for conservative principles. So if this was a grand plan, it worked IMO, so long as he doesn't eff up the debate tonight.
Yes, but can't we agree that it's a political maneuver and disagree on how it makes him look?
But who gives a shit_ how we see it, I'm curious as to how swings/independents see it.

Sweet. Can't wait! I'd rather watch at home and chat on E08 (dork!) but I think H and I are going to watch it at a bar with some friends. Or have people over.
