Inter-Island Travel ?

so I was looking at inter-island flights b/c I'm thinking when we go to Hawaii next time we'll split up our time between islands. I was checking flights (in Nov. if it matters) from Kona to Kapalua and they were $212 a piece (on-way). Is that normal?? I thought they were supposed to be relatively inexpensive, but $400+ for 2 people to get to another island is ridiculous. That was through Hawaiian Air. What site do you ladies use for inter-island travel? I tried the island air website and it said it couldn't find any flights from Kona to Kapalua. Do I need to try flying out of Hilo?

What days were you planning on going? MH and I were looking on Friday night for our trip in April to fly from Oahu to Kahuluhi on Hawaiian and it was less than $100. Maybe it makes a difference if you go on a non-busy travel day like during the week?

I think I figured out the problem. I need to fly into Kahului instead of Kapalua. I keep getting confused as to which one if cheaper Stick out tongue

okay that makes sense b/c $200 for a one-way surely didn't!! I remember when we flew from Kona to Kauai it was approx $100 each way, but that was also the farthest distance b/t all of the islands so it made sense. But the flight from Kauai to Oahu was pretty reasonable.

H originally did Kapalua as well and it was super high Stick out tongue I almost freaked out until I saw that he had the wrong city.

Okay so here is the deal.

1. Hawaiian Air doesn't fly into kapaula. Only island air, go and mokulele

2. There aren't many direct flights between Kona/Hilo/Kauai and Maui. You will often have to sto over in Honolulu and that can make it more expensive. I know that last year when we went from Kahului to Kauai during the 4th of July weekend it was something like $250 round trip.

3. Flying between islands on holiday weekends (Easter, Thanksgiving) can be just a little more expensive because alot of the Kamaaina are traveling as well.

Ditto on pp...inter-island flights that require stops in Honolulu will always be more expensive. Other than Hawaiian Air, I've also used Island Air and Go! Airlines. You may want to check out their prices and compare. GL!
