Strawberries & Raspberries
I'm going to order some strawberry and rasperry plants for to put in our garden this year. I'm trying to find the best place to order them online. I'd like everbearing ones (ones that when I get them, I can plant them and they'll produce fruit this summer). We live in the midwest (central Iowa) so I don't know if there is a certain kind I need.
Any info is greatly appreciated...I'm wanting to order them this week though so we can plant this early May and have fruit this summer! So lmk what you think is the best place to order. Thanks ladies!

Re: Strawberries & Raspberries
i ordered mine from Spring Hill. The first year I didn't get a lot of strawberries. DH joked about the fact that we had basically 1 strawberry a day. I did let the runners spread and the 2nd year we had more strawberries than we knew what to do with even with the slugs getting a bunch of them.
Raspberries I got from Spring Hill too (I had a coupon for $25 off). First year we probably got a total of 10 raspberries, last year we got more but not a lot. I have high hopes for year 3
I buy my plants from a nearby nursery. Last year I got strawberry plants for thirty cents each--I got a mixture of June-bearing and everbearing. I didn't have any berries until September... And my everbearing plants haven't sent runners out at all, while the June-bearings have spread like wildfire.

Everyone is Welcome.
I wouldn't order them online. If I remember correctly, you're in the Des Moines area. I recommend that you go to a local nursery because they will have what will work in your area, plus, they gaurantee plants.
How often do you go toward Oskaloosa or Pella? If you ever do, there is a farm and greenhouse on the bypass, about 4-5 miles on the Des Moines side of Oskaloosa (south side of the road) that has fantastic plants. Pretty affordable too. She has gorgeous, gorgeous plants and might have raspberries and strawberries. Sorry, I don't know the name - I want to say Sunny something, but you can't miss it driving that way. It's worth the trip. I stop on my way to and from Des Moines all the time.
Otherwise, stop into an Earl May store. The one in West Des Moines off of 22nd, and the one out near EP True are two very good ones.
