Help Please...from Michigan board...

Hello Ladies,

I am from the Michigan board but my husband and I are highly considering to move out of state within the next year and North Carolina is at our top.

Can you please tell me what cities are within 30 minutes of Mooresville and what major hospitals are around this city?  Also if you live in Mooresville or nearby what are some pro's and con's of the city?

Thank You!!

Sherry =)

  • I believe Mooresville is about 30 miles north of Charlotte however I do not know much else. There are some Charlotte ladies on here, they may be more help.

  • Mooresville is about 30 miles from Charlotte.  Maybe more like 20 from center city.  It's a very nice town.  It's being built up quite a bit.  There's a large lake, Lake Norman, up there.

I think the nearest hospital would be Iredell, but there's also a hospital in Huntersville which isn't very far.

    Good luck!

  • I live in Huntersville which is about 5-10 minutes south of Mooresville. Mooresville is very over populated for the area. Traffic is really bad, but they are doing lots and lots of construction to try and fix it. There is Lake Norman Regional Hospital in Mooresville, but I wouldn't recommend going there unless you don't want to come out alive. That hospital is terrible. I know personally lots of horror stories about that hospital and the Doctor I work for is "supposed" to be on call there for Dermatology and he has told me lots and lots of bad things about it.

ETA: But like Speed said, there is Iredell Memorial and I've only heard great things about that hospital.

  • DH's grandmother has lived in Mooresville all her life, I think it's a beautiful town. Lots of gorgeous subdivisions, etc. We love it. The ONE reason there is no way we could have considered living there is the traffic. A good portion of I-77 going into Mooresville from Charlotte is a 2 lane highway, and traffic gets all backed up during rush hour. DH relies heavily on the interstates. Then once you get INTO Mooresville, the main roads get totally clogged up. Exit 36, one of Mooresville's main thoroughfares, where there's a Superwalmart and a ton of stores, no matter what time of day I go up there, it is allll backed up. Im also hearing snippets here and there of traffic-relieving attempts, so I hope that helps, but for right now we just couldnt live up there because of the congestion. Otherwise it's beautiful.
  • If jobs are taking you to Mooresville there is no reason you can't live in Huntersville and drive there. Huntersville has traffic but no where near has bad as Moorseville.
i too would not go to Lake Nornam Hospital. Presbyterian Hospital in Huntersville is nice.

Totally agree. I love Huntersville, esp the exit 23 area, and the Presbyterian Hospital over there is super nice, two of my dr's have offices in the building.

  • Thanks ladies!!

You are all so very wonderful!! I appreciate any and all advice =)  I really hope to sooner than later join this board with you.

I look forward to looking into this information you have all provided me with.  It is good to know that Charlotte is much closer than we thought.

    Have a good day!

    =) Sherry

  • I live in Huntersville. I work at hospitals in Iredell, Lincolnton, and CMC-University. There are a ton of hospitals. Presby-Huntersville (I had my baby there and was very happy with them), Catawba Valley, Davis, Lake Norman Regional are some of the other ones. If you live in Huntersville, it's not too bad a drive to get to the hospitals downtown (CMC, Presbyterian, Mercy).
