Avoiding Period on Vacation
I am going on vacation in about three months and do not want to have my period while on it. According to my schedule, my period will fall smack dab in the middle of my vacation.
I am NOT on birth control pills and was wondering if I should start taking them now or a week or two before the vacation to avoid my period.
Thoughts?
Thanks!
Re: Avoiding Period on Vacation
You could get on pills now, but like a pp stated you might not have enough time before your vacation to get your periods completely regulated. If you wait until a week or two before your vacation, you'll likely be crampy and spotting and a bloated pizza face for your vacation. Fun.
Would you plan to stay on the pill after your vacation? Going on them for 3 months and then stopping them is a pretty short-sighted and stupid idea. You might be better off just packing a Diva Cup and some Midol.
I was on the pill for over 17 years until last October. I got off the pills as a last resort for finding a "cure" for my migraines. Sure enough, I'm am pretty close to being migrain-free and my body feels a lot better overall now that I'm not on b/c. My periods are extremely regular and only last for two full days. I'm tempted to just schedule my vacation one week later to avoid the problem.
I've never tried the Diva Cup, but I'll Google it now to see exactly what it is and how it works.
There's also something called Instead that's sold at drugstores, Target, etc. I'ts a disposable version of the diva cup, from what I understand.
