Poll: WWYD re: mattress?

H & I have a new mattress narrowed down between 2 choices at Macy's. They're both on sale for closeout. The sale is supposed to end 2/28. We were thinking about going Weds night to finalize the deal and get our mattress. BUT all the conventional wisdom I've been reading says not to buy mattresses until March when the new stock comes in and stores want to get rid of old stock. I can't picture that a closeout sale would have prices go back up after the sale ends. I'm worried that I'm going to buy this mattress on Weds night and then it'll be on sale even more after 3/1. Thoughts?

Re: Poll: WWYD re: mattress?

  • Call them and ask if they have any kind of price guarantee.  See if the price goes down within 30 days if they will refund you the difference.  Maybe that will make the decision easier.
  • Can you ask for a price adjustment within a certain time frame if they were to go down?  Take advantage of this sale if you are comfortable with the price & stop checking unless you are eligable for an adjustment.  Great sleep is always a good investment :)
  • I already gave you my vote- get the mattress on Wednesday. I also agree with the pp and giving them a call wouldn't hurt. I also wanted to say that I just laughed out loud at your special snowflake discription. haha I love it!

this. every retail establishment that i have encountered as of late will give you a price adjustment with in a certain period of time.... and if they dont, well complain to the manager & they will! This works everytime.... I should know, Im a manager in retail & they always get what they want in the end!

  • Yes, check the price adjustment policy!

  • If you don't have a Macy's cc you could open one up and save $ then just close it after a month or two?
  • I can't imagine they wouldn't adjust the price within that limited time frame if the price would happen to go down any further. I voted to go ahead and get it, enjoy it, then if the price drops that's an added plus!

I also agree with PP about the macys card. I do that ALL the time with store cards :)
