I bought material for a wrap..
But now that it is home and I am playing with it... I dont think I bought enough...
What is the length that is required?
Also.... if I have enough in length I have enough for a second so those who made there's did you just stitch the edge or put ribbon in it!?
TIA
Re: I bought material for a wrap..
I think Rach said the site is wearyourbaby.com or something like that. It has all the details you need (length, how-to, etc)
HTH!
Amy bought the fabric for our wraps, but I believe it is 5 meters and then you cut it lengthwise to make 2.?
A friend of my sewed (sp?) them up along the edges and added the middle section for some fashion fun.?

Here is a tutorial, similar to the one I made. I used a link that Rachel shared ages ago, but for some reason I cannot find it.
My wrap is 5 yards long, 22 inches wide. The fabric I bought was 65 inches wide I think? So I made three wraps with it, it was perfect. I used a jersey fabric with a bit of stretch, but not too much. If you find one where the cut ends of the fabric curl a bit (just look at the bolt before you buy it), you actually don't need to hem it (unless you want to, I didn't bother). I just cut mine to size, and it was fine! I think the fabric cost me $25 or something like that, and I got three wraps out of it... gave one to my sister and my cousin, and kept one for myself, perfect!
My baby isn't born yet, but I have used it to carry my neice (if you go to the moby wrap website, they have a pdf of carrying instructions you can print out and have handy somewhere in the house). It was perfect! She loved it, we went for a walk, had lunch, made lasagna, all while she happily snuggled up to me, and her mama rested... so much fun!
Good luck! Let us know how you like it!
My baby isn't here yet... but DH wants to wear them when they get here... either in the wrap I made (which will also fit him, he just ties in the back rather than front). Since they are so cheap to make, you could aways buy 6 yards of fabric, cut two wraps, and keep his at 6, while cutting yours to 5.
He also picked out a mei tai for him to use... way less fabric, quicker to tie, and hopefully a bit cooler than the jersey fabric (which can get a bit warm, and DH is always warm anyways).
Here is the mei tai he picked out:

We got it in black. It also has a little pocket, which i think will be handy for when we are out on walks or whatever.
