me too about her writing. I balled my eyes out.
Oh wow....I started reading the blog entry, bracing myself for the worst and wondering if I should continue (knowing how I have been feeling this week). Slowly realized where the story was going and managed to hold it together for all of the entry until this, at the end:
"I did it. I told my bunny's story"
Annnnnd tears.
What a beautiful writer and she has gorgeous girls! She writes in such a way that you can SO relate to, you can SO imagine that you would feel and react the same way.
Thanks for posting Lori.
Ditto this! My thoughts exactly and I agree with Tina when she said I was bracing myself for the worst but was amazed as I kept reading... I'm still speechless over it, thanks for sharing Lori.
I love Hawaii!

Good questions but since she's only 31 maybe she elected not to have the tests done. Only the amnio test can diagnose DS for sure. The other tests they do 1st trimester screening gives you a statistic or your baby's possibility for having DA (1 in 100 or 1 in 1000 chance). Maybe she elected not to have the tests or she had the 1st Trimester and had a statistic that led her to believe the possibility of DS was low or next to impossible.
That makes total sense now. That's why I was so confused, she is young so it just threw me off a bit. Thank you for clarifying that for me
I have spent all afternoon reading this blog, she is such an amazing woman for sure!

I wondered about this too. I showed this to DH an he asked what causes DS?! Just curious, to all preggy mommies, did you have have the amnio tests done?
I really appreciated how HONEST she was in telling her story. I didn't cry until her first daughter met Nella. . .
thanks for sharing, Lori. Amazing blog

I read that last week and was glad I was working from home because it totally had me in tears too!
To answer PP's question - we didn't have any first tri screenings (declined the NT) and only elected to have 1 ultrasound (the 20ish week anatomy scan). At that scan they do attempt to look for any abnormalities but often something like DS wouldn't be detected. I know there are various "levels" of an anatomy scan and we opted for the lowest level (I think in terms of what machine they use and how many physical features they look for) and it was explained to me that there were a few things (like DS) that could be missed.
