XP- Need help with lamps in my bedroom

I bought two of these lamps for my recently updated bedroom. With the intention of painting them and doing a new lampshade.

They are going in my bedroom, on the Hyde Side tables I made from Knockoff Wood designs. (I just recovered and moved the headboard so that's why my mirrors are not yet centered)

I also have two of these lamps (taller then the one pictured)

Do you have any suggestions of what colour to paint them (all the metals in the room are brushed nickel, the furniture is all espresso) and what colour shade to use? Or should I use two of the pleated shade lamps and refinish them for somewhere else in the house? Any advice on other accessories for this room, it just feels like it needs a little more pop.

I really like your room! Very restful looking. I would paint the first lamps an ivory or white, and I'd finish them with a coat of pearlescent paint ($11/can at Micheals). Because your tables are kinda rustic and your shades have nice scale, I'd use a burlap-type fabric to recover the shades. I hate, hate, hate pleated shades so I would get rid of them. You can find really inexpensive shades at WalMart to update the second lamps. I would leave the brushed nickel lamps as they are an use them on a dresser or chest of drawers...with new shades, of course. I like the look of mixing styles, I think it gives the room more personality. This way, it can be comfortable/traditional and a bit modern and glam all at the same time

You could also try a Rustoleum "hammered" finish, I picked up some hammered brush nickel high heat spray paint to re-paint our fireplace (currently brass). I really like those mirrors above the bed, are they from Rona?
