Serious Q: Why are you all posting on E08?
I just went over there and so many of you are over there too! And you are all posting interesting things, but you are not posting them here! Honestly, the place and posters make my eyes bleed. So, why do you post over there? Do you get something out of E08 these days? If so, what?
I have put on my thinking glasses to better understand this.

I don't go over there often, then when I do I see I've missed good posts, well, good original posts mixed in with good and not good comments.
I ditto LMW. Why/how do you do it?
There is some actual good stuff over there. I don't mind filtering out the crap.
I think of this as more of a personal board with some politics on the side.
I'm even more selective over there..but I don't see why I would want to boycott it completely.

I get the trying to save the home turf, but more double posting if that's the case. I don't go over there.
This board is super slow. I love it here, don't get me wrong, but I've kind of adopted this as my "personal stuff" board, and still go there for the politics. I like the heated debates, as long as they've got some substance.
ETA: I do read the politics stuff here, and comment sometimes. I like that caden, MD and PGH are still here. ?
Because I'm unemployed and get bored really fast.
And because there are some normal posters over there. I'm much more selective about what I get involved in though. And over there, I can indulge my inner sarcastic, snarky self every once in a while.
I think this board would pick up if people would post their interesting/thoughts finds over here too.
If I had my druthers, you would post the same thing here and there, but clearly you don't have to cater to my whims.
I'm not into the snark, but I like discussing politics. I'm just not a big political thread starter... so I guess I'm part of the problem...
I guess this board can't really compete with gems like this one, eh?

Actually, there's two conservatives over there that I really like - yeah4me and is_it_over_yet? They are wonderful. I'll also read anything that soontobeka and brideymcbriderson write. They are both smart and rational too.
Other than those 4, it is kind of a wasteland. But those 4 provide enough intelligent fodder to make a trip over there worth it once in a while.
Do you mean this board or E08? If you are talking about this board, I agree that we are operating in a closed universe which can make the conversation a little stagnant.
I mean E08. Most of the posts I've read recently were very "GO TEAM", preaching to the choir, sort of threads.
Usually this board is a bit slower, so I end up trying to catchup over then once I do that, I head over here. They suck me in and it takes me forever to leave. At work, I can't have 2 tabs which is a pain.
How do we know who stars posts, etc. What is this whole points system anyway? How do you get nesticles??
I totally feel you on this one, elena. I skip past most the liberals 'cause they're all saying the same thing. It's actually annoying when I have something worthwhile to say 'cause I'm sure people skip by me the same way.
I go through spurts over there. I stayed away on the latest abortion day. Usually I'll peak in, respond to a few, find something truly horrific and point my browser quickly back over here. And then be sad that it's so slow. Like MD, I've never been much of a thread starter, so I'm in no place to complain.

Because I don't want to miss anything entertaining posted by the trainwreck that is blondeg8bride or whoever she is.
I've been a lot snarkier over there lately. I have been really irritable lately and have lost my patience with some of the more ignorant and annoying posters, and instead of just ignoring it like I used to, I'm getting snarky. I just told someone tonight that she had no business discussing the topic.
So sue me.
