It might not be so bad for Palin after all...
I just thought, what if all this Palin crazy talk is just strategy? She has set the bar sooo, sooo, very low that if she performs just 10 percent better in the debates than how she has been during the interviews, won't this be seen as a win for her and the Reps?
Re: It might not be so bad for Palin after all...
This crossed my mind a while ago. But I think it's too late to bust out that strategy now. The Couric interview was a disaster. I don't think an amazing debate performance will be able to undo that.
I was hoping this was true two weeks ago. ?But the Couric interview seals the deal for me. ?There's little hope.
I still think a lot of it's the overcoaching getting in her head. ?But I guess we'll see if she can get over that next week...?

You know, I am beginning to feel really sorry for her - not in a condescending "she's just not so bright" kind of mean spirited way. But really sorry for her.
Here's why: Palin seems (to me anyway) to have quite sharp political instincts. She doesnt' have a ton of experience, but people take to her and that's a huge part of being a successful politician. If she had four more years as governor, and was even half as popular as she is now - she could have been a force to be reckoned with politically. Trot her out as a VP or POTUS nom and I bet she'd do a TON better then.
Now, if McCain loses she's done on the national scene, and if McCain wins she becomes fodder for late night TV jokes.
I actually think McCain did her a disservice bringing her to the ticket so green. From a purely partisan standpoint I suppose I'm glade because I just don't agree with anything she stands for - but I do feel some sympathy for her career at this point.
