Boston "Sights" Poll

I was thinking about this since we bought Celtics tickets the other day and we'd never been to a game before...

What's your favorite thing to do when you are in the city?

What's your favorite "Boston" event (Marathon Monday, 4th of July, St Patty's Day Parade in Southie, etc)?

What's one Boston sight or touristy thing you've never done or visited?

What's the one thing you always show or take out of towners to?

What's the most overrated attraction in the city?

What's the best kept secret i.e. restaurant, place to visit etc (I guess it won't be a secret anymore if you share it!)?

Re: Boston "Sights" Poll

  • Good poll!

What's your favorite thing to do when you are in the city? Walk around.  I love the atmosphere.  I like to just wander somewhere and find something to do, eating or shopping usually.

What's your favorite "Boston" event (Marathon Monday, 4th of July, St Patty's Day Parade in Southie, etc)? I like walking over to Fenway Park on opening day.  I never have tickets and am just on my lunch break, but I love to take in the atmosphere and excitement of baseball season starting.

What's one Boston sight or touristy thing you've never done or visited?  Freedom trail in the North End.  I don't know why, I just never really had a reason to check that stuff out.

What's the one thing you always show or take out of towners to? Boston Common.  We usually will park there then walk somewhere in that area, usually down Newbury Street.

What's the most overrated attraction in the city? Cheers.  The food is the same mediocre stuff you would get at any chain burger/bar restaurant.

What's the best kept secret i.e. restaurant, place to visit etc (I guess it won't be a secret anymore if you share it!)? Not really a secret, but I think the Museum of Science is awesome.  They are open late on Friday nights so sometimes DH and I will go for a date night to the exhibit hall, then an Omni movie.  Dorky fun Geeked
  • Love this!

What's your favorite thing to do when you are in the city? Grab drinks with friends at new restaurants

What's your favorite "Boston" event (Marathon Monday, 4th of July, St Patty's Day Parade in Southie, etc)? Does HarpoonFest count?

What's one Boston sight or touristy thing you've never done or visited? Freedom Trail

What's the one thing you always show or take out of towners to? Duck tours for sure! Love those things, I'm such a geek!

What's the most overrated attraction in the city? Not sure. maybe Faneuil Hall

What's the best kept secret i.e. restaurant, place to visit etc (I guess it won't be a secret anymore if you share it!)? Jacques gay bar for the drag queen shows, they're amazing!!!
  • What's your favorite "Boston" event (Marathon Monday, 4th of July, St Patty's Day Parade in Southie, etc)? Hmm, I don't think I have one.

What's one Boston sight or touristy thing you've never done or visited? Freedom Trail for me too.  However, I'm pretty sure I've seen pretty much everything on the Freedom Trail, just on separate visits to the sites and not all as one walking tour.

What's the one thing you always show or take out of towners to? Totally depends on what they're into, but for new people I often recommend the Duck Tour or the Freedom Trail.

What's the most overrated attraction in the city?  I agree with Cheers.  It's not even cool to look at, never mind eating.

What's the best kept secret i.e. restaurant, place to visit etc (I guess it won't be a secret anymore if you share it!)? Mmm...maybe Mt. Auburn Cemetary in the fall if they're into leaf peeping.
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • What's your favorite thing to do when you are in the city?  Bar crawl on a beautiful summer day I think...

What's your favorite "Boston" event (Marathon Monday, 4th of July, St Patty's Day Parade in Southie, etc)?  Definitely 4th of July on the Charles.

What's one Boston sight or touristy thing you've never done or visited?  I think we've done pretty much everything since H is a foreigner.  We love to go to historic houses, so there are definitely a few we haven't hit yet...

What's the one thing you always show or take out of towners to?  Duck Tours

What's the most overrated attraction in the city?  Definitely Cheers.  I don't get it, but all of our guests seem to want to do it...

What's the best kept secret i.e. restaurant, place to visit etc (I guess it won't be a secret anymore if you share it!)?  Not in Boston per se, but H's favorite restaurant is Firefly, so we always take visitors to the one in Framingham to pig out...
