Grrr...Coworker Vent! (It got long...sorry)
So, I just got done eating lunch with a few of my coworkers. One of them made me sooo mad (though I shouldn't be surprised...she is not a nice person).
She is in her late 40s, she has two daughters and her youngest (20 years old) is pregnant by a scumbag. Scumbag meaning a warrant for his arrest, no car, no job, other children not in his custody. Well, ever since she found out that I am pregnant, she keeps making these little comments. I overlook them...I understand where they are coming from.
Well, today, she walked into the room where we were eating and we were talking about what is going on today on my pregnancy calendar, and she says to me...."I just can't believe you are actually going to name that baby Addie...you aren't going to call it that in public, are you?"
**Our girl name is Adelyn, a combo of Adelle and Lynn (both family names)
I quickly responded "YES!" My other coworker friends jumped in and said that they liked it but who does that???? This isn't a name I'm choosing for my dog....and it is not a name I'm just throwing around. It is the for sure girl's name...seriously...what planet is she from!?! I don't actually care what she thinks, but it made me so mad for her to say that.
Big alcohol filled beverages for anyone who made it through that...I just had to vent!

Oh I know the feeling, so many people have so many things to say. First of all i really like that name/nickname! It's super cute!
Just try to ignore the ignorant idiots who always have something to say. I get crap all the time from the food i eat, the name we chose, the decisions we've made. it's annoying but in the end i say screw'em all!

It's nice that you understand where the comments are coming from but it's still totally uncalled for. People should learn to keep their mouths shut. Not that you asked my opinion but I think it's a pretty name and I like the face that it has meaning to you guys. I think she's frustrated with her own daughter and her own mindless way, applying the frustrations and anger towards you. With no respect or manner or thoughtfulness she may have...oh well, it doesn't excuse her behavior. It's just not polite at all.
I would have said "Didn't your mother teach you if you don't have anything polite to say at all...don't say nothing!" Smile, and continue with your lunch. Kill them with kindess...it breaks them down!!!!!!!!!!!!!
